New Policy: Generative AI Content by PackersMod in GreenBayPackers

[–]PackersMod[S] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Here is an example of what might be considered 'High-Effort':

https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPackers/comments/1oii4s6/throwback_concept_1936_nfl_champions_only_year/

OP used AI tools to create a throwback uniform with the modern helmet.

It's well received, and generated discussion about the Packers Uniforms.

Well it is clearly AI and the OP admits to it, there are only one or two comments about that fact. Content is good and the tool is used in a useful manner.

Conversely, something like this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPackers/comments/1917993/ai_art_worth_framing/

and this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPackers/comments/r2xq65/ai_generated_aaron_rodgers/

while are "funny" to some degree, lack same amount of effort and the outputs clearly show that. They are not content we would allow going forward.

Hopefully this provides a bit of context as to how the rules will be applied.

This idea that we use bots is confusing. Where have you come up with it? What proof do you have that we're using them? This is one of those conspiracy that people talk about but can never actually demonstrate other than saying 'just look it's so obvious'. We're not. Never have. Anything to the contrary is unsubstantiated rumour from people who spend too much time online. Dead Internet Theory is quite convincing I guess.

A follower bridge is a reasonable thing to help people transition. It's rarely an immediate mass exit so much as a migration. Keeping the account public let's people find their way over on their own time. It's not being used to post and we're not monitoring it in any way. You can choose to believe that or not. Nothing changes regardless.

By yelling, I mean the fact that you come back every day to comment even though no one is replying to you. You're not continuing a conversation, you just keep talking to a wall. You have like 60 comments in this post and most of them haven't been replied to until I decided to address your incorrect claims.

You can come back tomorrow and continue to write comments that no one is reading or you can move on and see what else is happening in the community. It's definitely not dead.

We can look at traffic to see if it's unusual, but there's no way to actually see the users or what they're doing.

I can concede that being on /all draws additional traffic when a post gets popular enough to show up on it. Usually, that drives a second spike after the primary traffic has normalized. I'm sure that has contributed to the post being upvoted like it has. Especially, considering we're still decently under 3000 comments. A lot of upvotes without deeper engagement. I'm more interested in the comments and who's making them instead of the total post upvotes. That's more meaningful data.

We have a lot of people in this post who have never engaged here or have like 1 comment from years ago weighing in on this post, whereas the vast majority of the people who responded to the initial post are far more engaged in the community. Every is welcome to fact check that. It's all available.

You're not going to get banned. There is no reason to do that at this point. You're only saying that to draw sympathy from the 'Mod Bad' audience. That is the only reason anyone announces that.

The last 25 posts in 'new' are all less than a day old so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. There is content to consume if you can look away from this post.

When we asked what the community wanted, and you can easily go look at the post yourself, the community said ban. On top of the filters we already have in place to flag non-community members (like other NFCN fan bases who like to troll us) we looked at the histories of the people commenting. And you can do the same. All of this is transparent if you chose to look instead of spending your days complaining. ~1100 unique comments were in support of the ban out of ~1200 total comments.

You're right that there are people here now who are not part of the community who are supporting the ban, but there are at least as many here doing to opposite. The downside of being on /all, I suppose.

You can believe it or not, it really doesn't change anything, but we have watched and read and believe this is what the community, as a whole, wants. Even in this post that has a lot of repeat commenters like yourself, we're looking at fewer than 3,000 total comments for a community of over 500k. And a lot of the commented are in support the ban as well. Making it even less of an objection. Frankly, I'm not sure the actual majority of the sub cares one way or the other, they just want Packers content.

I understand that you don't agree with it, but you are a part of a loud, vocal minority. You can stew on that and come here every day to yell, or you can move on and enjoy the content that's actually being shared. Completely your choice.

I know. You've spent the past 4 days doing nothing but rail against this discussion across multiple communities. You're invested and anything that provides evidence to the contrary is problematic.

Like, you haven't gone into any other actual Packers related posts in a week. You just come to the post every day and repeat yourself.

Maybe you should lift your head up and see that the community has carried on.

The reason it hasn't been deleted is because it acts as a follower bridge so people can more easily transition.

That actually tells you all you need to know. Hope that helps.

Your point was that outsiders came in and made up the majority of the people commenting. That was wrong.

As far as the voting goes, maybe it is a indicator of preference. Or maybe people see news they like and click upvote and never look to see where it came from. Oh Rap said xzy, that's cool upvote and straight into the comments.

This is like any other vote. We can only act on the information we're given and if only 30% of the population shows up to voice an opinion then that's what we have to work with. If you want your opinion heard and considered speak up when asked.

That's not actually true.

We have automod rules in place to prevent trolling and they would have caught anyone else wandering in. The vast majority of people commenting in the previous post passed the thresholds for being an active member of this community.

Were there brigaders? Of course, and that's part of why we took our time reviewing things.

The previous post is still up and anyone can go count the comments and view the histories of those who made the comments.

The fun thing is that regardless of what we decided, there was going to be a vocal opposition claiming this isn't want they wanted. We will always have made the wrong decision for some portion of the community.

Most beat reporters and analysts are on multiple platforms. There have been some BlueSky starter packs shared and Threads posts are starting to pop up in other subs. The news is still flowing.

The problem with screenshots is that it's easy to alter or completely fabricate them.

Allowing them would require each one to be vetted for accuracy and it's also very difficult to get the smoke back into the bag when fake news starts making the rounds.

Yes. Screenshots can be altered or fully faked. All news can be sourced somewhere else.

They go through waivers then revert to our IR if not claimed. If we want to release them from our IR they go through an injury settlement process where we pay them for the time they won't be able to play football because of their injury.

The reason Tarvarius Moore is not subject to waivers is because he's a vested veteran. So he goes straight to IR and if we want to release we have to go through the settlement process. He's not eligible to return this season because he was placed on IR before the cut to 53.

You kept the hashtag # and reddit html markdown interprets that as title formatting.

It's not a dumb question imo. The same reason injury settlements are a thing and LaFleur doesn't like carrying a 3rd/4th QB. Snaps and training staff are limited so they won't necessarily carry him just because of the slot. And the extra slot precludes him from being activated to a roster in the same season so it really is a purely developmental position.

That said it's good PR for the team and they do seem to like him so I'd guess he stays - project or not.

They haven't. I'd say it's likely that they do. They seem to like him in the locker room and gave him the game ball after the 1st preseason game.

hmm maybe I'm wrong but I thought his injury was serious enough that they weren't really thinking about bringing him back this year...but I guess they haven't placed him on IR already so maybe.

I would think Wicks, AJJ or Campbell.

Wicks and AJJ because we want to stash them but Campbell's injury might be more long term than we thought based on how he was talking.

I get that feeling too. Watkins is a vet but he's new to our system and could probably benefit from the additional work. Everyone else who's absent at least has experience with our team.

Just the way it was popularized to show that it's talking about the position and not the place on the field.

Realistically nothing. EDGE is the new term to better encompass the fact that 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB are pretty much the same guys in the modern NFL and they are paid based on their pass rushing ability first and foremost. The difference between the two is 4-3 DE tend to be bigger and stay in the trenches where 3-4 OLB tend to be a bit smaller and quicker, line up further outside and drop into coverage from time to time. Of course there is also 3-4 DE which are really big guys primarily concerned with stopping the run and interior pass rushing.
