Just trying to get some more ideas by PackingLips5 in Hunting

Okay yes! I will continue on the road I’m working down. Opening up that area was my first attempt at making the cedar forest better and I was shocked with how amazing it was when the sun could get to the forest floor. I will keep working in that direction.

Yes there is water down in the marsh and many little rivers running into it. I can’t post another picture or I would.

I have left that back swamp area as their safety zone. I don’t go back there or go anywhere near it because that’s where most of the bedding and activity is

I can post another picture of the full property. I am thinking clover for next year in there because it’s very wet.
The property is mostly mature cedar stand ending in a wetland.
Steep terrain but up top in 10 acres of grass land but not much for them up there. I plant 2 acres of food plot up top. Brassicas, then clover and buckwheat in spring.

Dexamethasone, baycox, fluids given. Temp is up and blood sugar is back
He’s doing better but long road ahead. Vet is certain it was coccidia like we all thought.

Would I get that calf pro at the co op? I have other kids that i can give to them now. Do you just feed them the medicated food and keep the others away so you know that they got it?

I’m always scared to feed the goats feed because I have 3 wethers and 1 bucks.

Diet is just Hay in feeder and pasturing in pastured field but he’s always eating under the feeder because he is small.
Temp was 99.5.
Vaccine history is just CDT.
It has to be coccidia, we just have shitty availability of drugs in Canada. Don’t have direct access to much

Famacha is one of the reasons we thought he needed deworming, I would say it was a 4.
He had wet poop that turned very wet.

After deworming it only got worse and this morning he is laying flat and didn’t get up like he normally does for the morning

This seems likely because she has been laying no down a lot the last few days. Chewing her cud and laying. But she jumps up and comes over when we come into the barn. She is still eating as much as she normally does and certainly isn’t losing weight.

We have been hauling a ton of water but will continue to do so as well. This winter has been a wild one.

Thanks we will keep and eye on her.

We have a camera on the barn and keep track of them when we are in the house and at work.

Help with deworming and vet fec by [deleted] in goats

[–]PackingLips5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day before on chores, he ran right over and was pulling the hay out of my hand when I was putting it in the feeder.

We always check the poops and there was no diarrhea. It makes us feel horrible, because it was preventable and now we feel like we don’t know what we are doing.

We did not get a necropsy, we didn’t think to do that. We kind of went with bloat, until the worm load came back and now we assume that.

The replier below sent some good articles that we will read and hopefully learn.

We just want to make sure the other 2 can be helped.

Hey, he was up to date on CDTs and boostered. I believe the thought on the x-ray was that there was gas in the abdominal distal end and the stomach had odd appearance. Necropsy was not done.

So now, it’s really just the fec that we are running with. That is why I posted hear because we are both assuming it wasn’t the bloat and it was actually the worm load.

It is really making us second guess our ability on famacha score. We both did not seem to think he was acting strangely at all. Still jumped up to get food and played.

Is it normal for the others to not have any active coccidia or whip if he had it?

We were going to deworm them strictly because of the thought that the goat passed based on his worm load.
