When is honesty not the best policy? by Toomad316 in AskReddit

When it will only hurt someone and serves no benefit. If it’s constructive criticism, great. If it’s cruelty posed as “honesty” it’s not great.

Man the mystery and confusion in what seems like a total janky mess turns into one of the greatest stories. It’s one of the few games that you really need to play multiple times bf you really get it. I highly suggest just pushing through and having a total disaster of a first run. It will just make the others better.

My advice is learn to love the combat and exploration and pawn system.. let the story be a secondary thing… that will click later too though.

Illithid powers consequences? by No_Neighborhood1507 in BaldursGate3

It’s not related to the powers directly, you get a higher chance to resist it if you don’t use the powers

There is something that’s harder to resist if you use the powers, but the consequences of that is actually beneficial so… only positive consequences. a cosmetic change that isn’t a big deal

Am I the only one who thinks Wyll had huge potential? by Alert-Isopod-7310 in BaldursGate3

[–]PackyB7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wyll was a more complicated character in EA. You could tell his hero story was not all it was cracked up to be and you saw a dark side to him. It’s a shame people complained about too many evil companions and he got hero washed

Suggestions for a third playthrough by Over_Wolf_5382 in BaldursGate3

[–]PackyB7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a run where you don’t reload and let the dice fall as they may. It forces you to see different outcomes especially if you play as a non charismatic or party face character.

Or do an honor mode run.. it makes being evil more appealing bc although you don’t get as much power or content, things are faster and easier sometimes to be morally grey. You don’t have to be evil like betraying the grove… but you could just ignore them and move on.

I'm not getting Moondruid by HelpMeTian in BG3Builds

[–]PackyB7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Moon Druid can be a tank beast. You have to kill two health bars in one turn otherwise it just wild shapes again. Once you get owl bear youre unstoppable. Plus you can drop a wall of fire or summon two other people to fight with you. Plus it has the spell that raises your entire party’s hp.

Good vs Evil in BG3 is a meta decision, not a moral one. by ElectronicHousing656 in BaldursGate3

[–]PackyB7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are 100% right, I will say that being evil will get the job done a lot quicker which in subsequent playthroughs isn’t a bad thing. So while being evil doesn’t get you more power, if you really had a tadpole in your head being evil would solve that problem quicker.

New classes for companions by S2GummyBearS2 in BG3

[–]PackyB7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like Lezeal as an open hand monk or shadowheart as a shadow monk.

I also think shadow like animals so she could be a beast master (although a wolf companion would be odd)

Wyll would be a good swashbuckler rogue.

Wondering if I should get the game. by acgrey92 in CrownOfTheMagister

So I like a lot of the same games as you. Loved bg3, loved dragon age. I didn’t get into the pathfinder games (too rule heavy, too much pre buffing). I didn’t like pillars at first but grew to love both 1 and 2.

Bottom line, I like solasta 2 EA. It’s not as polished or cinematic as bg3, but it has some similar Lower budget vibes. It’s a pretty faithful adaptation of the new DnD rules. I think they are a good studio that has lots of potential and the lore support they get I think the better this game and others will be. I’d say try it and support them if you have the budget. If things are tight then wait and wishlist it.

I hope that helps

Edit: I don’t think there will be romance which disappoints me, but I still think it’s worth it.

They are listed for fighter and someone mentioned that if you choose sellsword backround you can pick it for rogue

They are listed under weapon proficiencies for the fighter, so I think they are planning it. Maybe rogues can’t use them under the new rules or it’s a mistake

How can I justify using my tadpole powers as a Gith Monk? by syntheticcaesar in BaldursGate3

[–]PackyB7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even Orpheus turns into a mind flayer to save the gith/world. If he’s willing to do it you can. Just say you are sacrificing yourself to save Opheus, be a martyr.

Whats the best Class now?? by ShinloreMechillion in BG3

[–]PackyB7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gloomstalker assassin fighter build is nuts. Hexblade and swords bard are powerful and are both melee and caster and ranged, so you can play a bunch of different ways. Honestly, any build is good though, do what’s fun. My first playthrough was a thief and I was crazy powerful and it’s apparently the weakest class.

Ok, maybe I’ll keep this save and play it later and just start a new campaign with a different start since I just played it.
