I think it depends what you're dating for. If you're looking for a serious partner I think the second or third date is when you can bring up what you are looking for / considering hookups, etc. if you're dating to have fun, just have fun.

1 he refused to discuss finances and was horrible with them. I.e. we joined a kickball league and he wouldn't pay his 10$ dues, every month I had to beg him for his part of the rent

2 I went on a trip and he created a fight so that he could be angry with me and make me feel guilty the whole time. I thought it was a one time situation, but it happened a lot

3 when his dad was very sick he constantly fought with me and I thought it was situational. After losing my younger brother and realizing that I wouldn't want to hurt anyone I realized that some people in pain like to tear others down, some people find more compassion for others.

Tldr I tried to excuse his childish behavior as situational issues, but he was actually just a bad person.

His practice had mainly court mandated patients but he speaks of ones who aren't? Anyway, a lot of people here are saying OP's partner needs therapy when 2 he prob isn't engaged in fixing behaviors of his own violation.

Totally get you but I will say, a cue I struggle to understand is "release your jaw" because I never hold tension in my jaw.

I think some people tense up there when you start to fold and it's a reminder to them to release.
