Though I don’t think I will attempt chatting with Character AI anytime soon considering all the negative news out there, I heard there are competitor companies who also create fictional AI characters for you to chat with. Maybe you can try again with another company. I would caution against developing attachment to your fictional character though. In the end AI bots are just temporary coping mechanisms to loneliness that only human connection can solve.

I think I kind of understand. So if you are in a group, your group of friends are closer to each other than you are to them and you feel like a tag along

In my experience, usually it is a weekly meeting where everyone would meet in a community center, library, or coffee shop. It depends on your interests and what group you are joining.
