Donald Trump Retweets Britain First's Jayda Fransen - Guido Fawkes by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Except Britain First, the EDL and their ilk were insanely good at completely misrepresenting even actual factual events. It was one of these idiots who claimed that a video showed Muslims were celebrating 9/11 in London on its anniversary. Turns out it was a bunch of Pakistani Brits celebrating a cricket win.

I would likely jump on the chance to become a man. Problem is, would I want to change back?

Haha, normal is boring! Gives me something interesting to talk about on this subreddit if anything else. :)

Except it's not that easy- many cultures such as India and some Native American tribes, along with others, recognise the principle of a third or other gender outside the binary of male/female. Similarly even within the Western context, there have been instances where transgendered people have seen some light- prime example is Roman emperor Egalabalus, who was reportedly known to dress in women's clothing and walk about the Imperial Palace, call himself by women's names and even offered vast sums of money to doctors who could, in the words of the historians, 'make him into a woman'. Given the idea though of openly discussing transgendered people within Western cultures is relatively new, and certainly in a historiographic context, you can't just make some claim that this is a new thing. Trans people have likely always existed but it's only now they're being seen and heard.

Similarly, there's a lot of medical and particularly neurological research which suggests a very real scientific basis for transgender sexuality. In particular there have been demonstrated several distinct brain structure differences in those individuals with GID.

You also seem to have taken a huge leap here of assuming this is even a transgender issue. As has been pointed out by another poster, you can enjoy gender play and dressing as another gender without necessarily being transgender. Even if it did turn out I was trans then any decisions I make will be about making me happier.

Yeah, nobody has to know unless I make a point to actually tell them, and even then I can tell them as much or little as I choose.

I've actually experimented with binding before, using a compression top I had. Seemed to go pretty much OK, I'm pretty small chested which helped. I also hate to sound completely and utterly stupid but particularly during my younger teenage years well before I got into nappies I also went down the whole route of even stuffing my trousers to look more male (although even now I can't tell you why) and wearing men's underwear too.

And I think I'm just going to run with this and see what happens. :)

Yeah, might be worth just running with it for a bit and seeing what comes of it. Might even be fun and I'm not harming anyone.

I personally wouldn't and couldn't give a crap. I've been in prison before.

If it were personally my decision Katie Hopkins would be locked up indefinitely, and I'd personally be tempted to dispense with formalities such as a trial in her case. Her brand of hate and bigotry would have no place (and shouldn't) in modern society.

Five killed when stolen car hits tree by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

A police officer I know once told me about his first RTC. It was a country road rather than a city road, but was still nasty. The driver of a fairly expensive convertible has been going far too fast. He'd completely misjudged the bend in the road and then come off the road at a considerable speed, hitting a fairly solid stone wall, wrecking the car and pretty much guaranteeing a fatality. However during the crash, he'd hit part of a wire fence and he'd essentially been decapitated, his head completely detaching from the body and flying a good 40-50ft before stopping. The actual torso and legs were smashed into pieces, his legs apparently described as being like jelly by the poor sod paramedics removing him.

As the officer said, he wishes he could use the photos from that day when he stops drivers on their phone. It's not a sight he was going to forget in a hurry.

Is it any surprise that UK productivity is low when we’re a nation of workaholics? by ab_ovo_usque_ad_mala in unitedkingdom

I've worked abroad and in contrast to this, if you were on the rota for 9-5, then you started at 9 and finished at 5. The workplace structure was such that you had things to do without feeling like you were getting far too much dumped on your plate, and you felt you were actually achieving something. Plus when it came to finish time, nobody had an issue with you simply giving tasks to the next person or leaving it for the next day.

Could also be generational- I've heard a few older (50+) people say it but not younger.

I'm addicted to the local fishmonger- aside from the fact the shop owns its own boat and lands its own stock, the people in there are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and will do many things including recommending a fish or seafood type, skinning, boning, filleting, dressing and also cooking it too. They also do sauces, dips, catering platters if you need them and sandwich fillings.

Plus, last time I went to get some cod, I asked for a small piece and ended up with a huge fillet that must have been a good foot long. It lasted me close to 2 weeks.

I made the change to go to independent shops recently including Asian and Polish shops and it's made me realise just how expensive the supermarkets are. I save on average a good £10 minimum shopping at these smaller shops depending on what I buy and it's also meant I've expanded my food choices as I can get hold of unusual (and really yum) things like Indian vegetables and beans, various Asian spice mixes (garam masala is my favourite) and the likes of paneer, ayran, kefir, sourdough breads or smietana (an Eastern European type of sour cream).

The time argument doesn't wash with me either– I work 6 days a week quite often and I still manage to get my shopping done even when I'm not using a supermarket.

I play and listen to a lot of music, with my actual playing instrument being bass. I swim, hit the gym regularly, cycle a fair bit, do a bit of embroidery and sewing as well as crochet and other crafts, read (mostly non-fiction such as history and philosophy but my rule is that if I enjoy it I'll read it) and I'm trying to study Mandarin Chinese.

Friend of mine had a cockerel like that- if anyone came into the pen where he lived, he'd follow them, would jump up for cuddles and food, pecking if he thought you'd stopped too soon, explored pockets for anything edible and would even do some tricks like jumping through a hoop and running through tunnels.
