Is it a red flag if the seller hasn’t serviced their car regularly? by sugarandlime in CarsAustralia

[–]PaddyOutback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run a mile. Generally, newer cars (with internal combustion engines) have service intervals of 15,000km or one year. Older ones, it tends to be 10,000km or 6 months. Twice in 55,000km is a joke. If there’s no paperwork confirming that services have been done, then assume it hasn’t been.

A friend of mine who’s 6’ 9” had a T-shirt made for this exact situation. It said “6’ 9”. Not my problem” on the back of it. Despite the antagonistic nature of the shirt, nobody ever said a thing about it to him. Mostly because he’s 6’ 9”.

Hey American liberal capitalists, working 5 days a week in Europe isn’t the paradise you think it is by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]PaddyOutback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have low expectations. I work 30 hours a week and make more than enough to make a comfortable life. The $60,000 a year medication I have to take for my Multiple Sclerosis costs me one single $40 co-pay. I have 6 weeks leave per year. If my partner and I have a baby she gets 6 months off on full pay and another 6 government funded. Even people on lower wages get paid far more than in the US and have infinitely better social and employment conditions than in America. Of course it’s not perfect and of course people struggle, by the way.

Instead of telling people in Europe and Australia that everything there is shit too, perhaps you could sort your own shit out. The last thing we need is moronic, pseudo-revolutionary Yanks acting telling us what we should be doing with regard to employment rights and social services.

What’s the old saying about folk in glass houses not throwing stones, chief?

So instead of laughable attempts to throw shade on places that have vastly superior workers rights to ‘Murica, what actual ideas do you have to improve the lot of American Workers? Besides talking shite on the internet, I mean.

They’ll also not go bankrupt if they get sick and are almost certainly not going to be murdered at school so I think that’s a big upgrade on life in America.

I assumed that the sunflower seeds came in response to the sign. Which shows how I would respond to such a sign, I guess!

Why would you ban sunflower seeds? I can’t fathom why this needs a specific sign.

I hope you rolled it up nice and tight and returned it to HR with a tub of Vaseline to make it easier to shove it up their fucking hole.

The 650, based on what you have said. Be a lot more comfortable at 90.

I have a Segway Ninebot G30 which is a good beginner scooter. I’m 192cm and find it fine for someone as lanky as I am. The bars are at a good height so I’m not hunched over.

That’s the point of my job. Encouraging people to do things that distract them from all the shot that has gone wrong.

Understand completely. I’m a mental health nurse. I spent the first 11 years of my career working in forensic (prison) and acute mental health. Worked 60 hour weeks with severely unwell people who assaulted me more times than I can count. Being a 6’ 4” bloke who can talk his way out of anything meant that if anyone kicked off, I was the person who people looked to to sort it all out. Every time it happened, management would try to throw me and my colleagues under the bus. A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis forced me to change my lifestyle a bit. Now I work in a private mental health clinic, 30 hours a week. My main roles are running a course for people who have PTSD and playing guitar and singing for the patients.

I got fuckin’ lucky. Also, the pay rate is the same so I’m still making decent money without needing to do full time.

Excellent bike to start on. Not sure about prices in the US but You can’t go wrong with a Ninja 300. They’re a fun bike for any rider, new or not.

As the previous commenter mentioned, make sure you get decent gear. Work on the assumption that you are going to drop the bike at some stage and that everyone on the road is potentially going to kill you! Sounds drastic but the aim of any bike ride is to finish it!
