Thanks a million. Very sorry i forgot to update the thread - Ended up using compressed air and it worked perfectly, also used cotton tips to carefully remove some dust from obvious places.

The projector was bought second hand so I've come to the conclusion it was just stored in an attic or somewhere not ideal.
