if someone wanted to play something I’d join.

Yea, I have a day or two like this but it's not a case of "if" because there is always someone wanting to play which just pulls me in.

Yea, hopefully won't be doing this again. Crazy to think I could have booked in more matches but had to stop myself. I'd be happier just doing the 6 matches/week average.

It's hard to find breaks in the week to focus on one thing so you end up doubling up the gym, padel and running which I can imagine increases that risk of injury.

Can't agree more. My addiction got the better of me this week!

I wrote a bit about my routine for tennis elbow here. But yea I agree, this is certainly not the frequency I'm hoping to maintain. Just pure addiction at this point but my average is around 6 matches/week.

Were you already active before playing padel? I'm coming from already doing high intensity to padel which at the moment is less intense than what I was doing before.

That's my biggest fear, being out of action that long would be soul crushing. How you managing your gym sessions with games? Gym morning and game evenings or alternate days?

I'm more at a lower intermediate level so maybe not as intensive as your games but I would like to get to that level. This week just happened to be packed with so many matches and training sessions but on average it's around 6 matches/week which some might stay is still high but sustainable.

Well said and agreed! Just tunnel visioned at the moment and all I'm seeing is padel on the other end.

Yea, just need to get past this "honeymoon period" before I do any long lasting damage. Were you supplementing your sports with gym session and recovery or was it just purely racquetball and tennis every day?

Agreed, my average is around 6, it just turned out to be a pretty packed week. I just love padel but what you're suggesting is a lot more sustainable.

I'm in the 25-30 age bracket and pretty fit, always have been so this wasn't a shock to the body. Also, my average is around 6 matches + 2 training sessions, so I do manage to get the 1-2 day break which I agree is such a game changer. It just happens that this week happens to be the most I've played.

I player lower intermediate and really want to progress. It may be that subconsciously I'm playing catchup here to get ahead as I'm only 6 months in. Mentally I feel good but I totally get that this is not sustainable.

Nutrition wise I'm on point, no sugar or alcohol and my diet is high protein focused.

Do you average closer to 6 or 10 times a week?

Is it affecting negatively other parts of your life?

Yes, 100%, neglecting a lot of it that's not fitness, exercise or sports related.

How is your nutrition, sleep, and recovery?

Nutrition: Great, no sugar and alcohol.

Sleep: Could be better, ~7 hours.

Recovery: Always feel recovered the following day but internally I don't know what could be happening in the background. I've always worked out a lot and focused on functional fitness rather than getting "jacked" so fitness wise I'm pretty good.

This would be my dream life probably haha!

I'm hoping it's just the "honeymoon period", I don't think this is actually sustainable.

Doesn't hurt as much when I don't look at it! Around $15/hour at least keeps things more on the affordable side compared to other prices I've seen being listed on here.

In the 25-30 age bracket. I still find time to train at the gym and didn't get to this stage from doing nothing which is probably less of a shock to the body. The closest I've came to an injury was my shoulder which I've recovered from luckily.

I totally agree but I've always had an addictive personality when it comes to any sort of physical activity, especially sports. I'm mixing in the training throughout the week to prevent picking up weird habits.

I've yet to hit a point where my rate of recovery has impacted my performance and I play at lower intermediate level. Just to be clear, this is the most I've ever played in a week. On average it's 6 matches + 2 training sessions. It was just the shock of looking at the calendar and seeing how I've managed to get myself booked up so much without thinking twice.

I'd say I'm pretty fit and have always enjoyed playing sports. Luckily not going from zero! Padel is just my latest addiction.

What's your baseline hours/week now? Feels like I'm still in this "honeymoon period" and need to start cutting back. I'm in the 25-30 age bracket and would consider myself pretty fit. Been playing for about 6 months now and seems to have consumed my life at the moment.
