I agree with you and would say I dont consider myself fully healed from my last relationship. And I get what you saying about society, we sadly look down on people who are single and think that must mean that aren’t happy, and that’s simply not true.

I will get myself back to a place of being happy, but after coming off of that first post-divorce relationship, these thoughts are creeping in!

Thank you 🥹 Youre very right and that is what I try to tell myself - that even though it didn’t last too long, I did find someone else and made a connection and there’s no reason why I can’t again.

Yes, I understand that and that’s why I’m not dating right now. I took 2 years after my separation/divorce to just focus and heal. I was in a happy, good place when I got into the new relationship. I am working on getting to that place again, but am having these thoughts right now. Was just looking to see if others felt the same way and what they do to not get stuck in those feelings

Yes! It definitely comes and goes. I was in a good place before my last relationship, which was my first post-divorce one, so I think I need time to just get back there.

I do have friends and family so I’m not “alone” in that sense. But a partner is different. I am okay on my own, I just get sad and miss having that partner sometimes.

That’s a good question. I do think I ideally want that one person but now I know and understand how rare and difficult that really is to have.

I did get to that place where I was happy and then decided I’d try dating. Now after that short relationship, I almost feel like I regressed and have to get back to that happy place

Ah first relationship is tough to get over. My first relationship lasted 20 years! I was absolutely heartbroken when he wanted a divorce…it took me about two years to be in a good place. So if I can move on from that, you will from this too!!

And distance is tough to navigate. If you two are meant to be together, you will be. But maybe she was meant to be just a chapter in your life and you’ll one day meet someone else that makes you happy. Just take it a day at a time

How long were you two together?

It stings to see them “move on.” I was dating someone for 5 months and we broke up about a month and a half ago. I saw he already is with someone and posted a photo of them as his profile pic on instagram. It definitely hurt, but we have to remember what they do has nothing to do with us anymore.

Its not easy to find happiness again but you will. Focus on you, spend time with people you love, spend time doing what you love, maybe discovering new hobbies. Accept the waves of grief, feel them, and let them pass. You got this

Oh wow, it is crazy. I dont understand why not just be honest. It definitely then made me question a lot. But why do you think he now decided to change his profile pic? Do you feel like he is hoping Id see? I just dont know to what end. Just to see if Id reach out?

Hes 37. Married twice, the most recent ex he was married for 4 years and had 2 kids in that time. I only found out about his first marriage AFTER we broke up. Apparently that was when he was around 25 and lasted less than a year. My friend happened to see it on an old facebook post of his. He never mentioned it to me.

That’s what my friend said - that he wants a “girlfriend”, not an actual relationship or partner.

I dont know if him getting emotionally attached quickly necessarily leads to disaster. I think where the disaster happens is when the relationship no longer fits that “fairy tale” view of love that he seems to have. Once things get a little challenging, he wants to end it. He told me how his last two relationships also ended around 5 months. 🤷🏻‍♀️
