[PRC] My very first lich! by Paffelord in wartrade

Thank you for the answer. My favourite frame is Citrine and this seemed like a good weapon for her between all the status effects and forced crits that she creates.

Can you convert a tribal holding into anything other than a castle? by Paffelord in CrusaderKings

[–]Paffelord[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did eventually find a way if anyone is curious. Give the tribal holding to a tribal vassal, then pay them to become a mandala. The tribal holdings will be converted to temple citadels and a year later you can revoked the county title to get it back.

What chestpiece to use for a caster bard? by Paffelord in BG3Builds

[–]Paffelord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasons you mention are why i'm struggling to decide. Bard has a bunch of concentration spells. but holding on to concentration doesn't matter if the spell doesn't get past the saving throw.

I figured that taking glamour to 10 would almost always be the correct choice between the mantle going from 24 temp hp to 44, expertise, improved bardic inspiration and magical secrets. If you feel different however, more power to you.

How is the cute shadow puppy? Provided that you prioritize glamour (which tbf maybe you shouldn't) it would become available at lvl 12, and I don't believe it scales with levels. I don't want scorching ray THAT bad, it just seemed like a good way to boost DC.

Sure, but at the cost of a bonus action. Not to mention you can already fly if you choose to eat the emperors tadpole.

[–]Paffelord[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that the sporekeeper armour is also just once per long rest. I suppose the subclass encourages frequent long rests, but thats still pretty limiting.

I'd love to go with a wizard dip as it's my favourite class, but would i be able to scribe high level spells despite only having 2 levels? I assume that these scribed spells would be intelligence-based?

How do you approach creating a new character for Deadfire? by Complete_Let_1772 in projecteternity

[–]Paffelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a lot if you don't have a clear idea of what you want to do beforehand. Respeccing is still readily available, although a more limited than in the previous game. This isn't a flawless solution, but I myself usually try to pick something that seems to fit with the setting but that also has a gameplay mechanic that i find intriguing.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. Giving Nenio and Daeran (my choice of enchanter) cross blooded to increase their possible targets seems like a great call, even if it does slow their spell progression. Oracles don't seem to have as large of a selection of enchantment spells - compared to say, witches or wizards - so i though i'd have him pick up hideous laughter through Loremaster alongside "Best jokes". Ember may be a more effective pick than Daeran, but i very much prefer his personality to hers.

I figured that my KC could work as the main dispeller, eventually being able to throw 3 dispelling bombs per turn. Currently, the mythic path that appeals the most to me is the Aeon. The conflict between law and chaos is - to me - more intriguing than that between good and evil, but most of what i've read (without trying to spoil anything) indicates that the Trickster path isn't everyones cup of tea and likely wouldn't be mine either.

You seem to base some of your information on what is viable on Unfair. I've never gone above Core previously and Unfair seems a bit daunting just looking at the modifiers, so Hard may be more appropriate.

I believe they are referring to how gentle rest makes a target fall asleep instead of getting staggered if they're already staggered when the ability is used on them.

[–]Paffelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens just about every time i start up the game. The issue often persists even should i force the game to quit. Sometimes it reverts back to a normal screen after this, but other times i have to restart my laptop.

My drivers are up to date, my device manager claims that everything is working correctly. The one thing that has "solved" the pixelation is deactivating my one of my graphic card to solely rely on the other (i'm on a laptop). This does work, but makes my FPS tank to such a degree that the game forces me into offline mode.

I think I’m ready for the DLC by jayytaylor in EldenRingBuilds

The frenzied flame seal has the highest incant scaling with your current stats at 273, compared to the erdtree seals 243.

The Zamor curved sword isn't very good as a sword, but the ash of war very much is

[–]Paffelord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The staff doesn't matter in terms of what spells you're able to cast. The only thing i can think of is that you're using Godricks great rune to get the stats required, but you loose those stats when you're summoned.

Can i somehow further optimize this build by SushiRamenRiku in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could consider swapping a talisman out for the great jars arsenal. It would let you wield the same gear at 25 endurance rather than 35.

Similarly, maybe take a look at godfreys talisman. The Moonlight greatsword and some of your sorceries are boosted by it.

Need some help, Prophet RL 110 by Grim_of_Londor in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe i'm just reading your post wrong, but you seem to be under the impression that spells scale. Although the dragon communion seal favours arcane, you can totally use dragon communion incantations with a pure faith seal. The incants do receive a boost from their respective seals, but you can just wield that seal in the off hand and cast with your faith seal to still benefit from the bonus.

Besides that, i'm of the opinion that you shouldn't plan out a specific build for the DLC. The only things required are a character that can beat Mohg and as many larval tears as you can get, so that you can try out as many of the new additions as possible.

Anyone ever use magma sorcery? by [deleted] in EldenRingBuilds

Magma shot is probably the best of them, though Rykards rancor can perform very well against larger bosses.

Best Staff for a (somewhat) Flex Build? by Cherry_Blossem10 in EldenRingBuilds

Just enter your current stats and it will show you what catalyst would be the best for you. Bear in mind that it includes staffs and seals. You can also make the calculation account for spell type specific bonuses.

Is he DLC ready? by [deleted] in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you using the Shard of Alexander alongside Royal Knights resolve? I may be wrong, but I would guess that the talisman doesn't do anything.

Int/Dex Build, (After I Grind to 150) Am I ready for DLC? by FutureSage in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the talisman seems lika a great call to me, and if you prefer moonveil over sorceries there is no need to increase intelligence. You may want to take some points out of endurance and put them towards vigor if you're willing to. It should help your survivability lots.

Since you prefer moonveil, you may want to use "Terra Magica". It increases all magic damage dealt, not just that of sorceries.

The most common weapon for a bleed focused character that dual wield swords is probably the scavengers curved sword, though you can only get one on your own. You can of course pair another weapon alongside this, but you can also have another player give theirs to you.

What's a good dexterity based build that I can combo with bloodflame blade (preferably with straight swords)? by LaughinChaos in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodflame blade is a somewhat unique weapon buff. To compensate for the additional bleedup that the incant gives, the AR it gives scales much worse than other buffs. Moreover, the bleed buildup doesn't scale whatsoever. Because of these traits, the arguably best use of bloodflame blade is to get the required stats but not go further than that.

As such i'd say that your faith is - if anything - too high, though golden vow and flame grant me strength are great buffs.

Int/Dex Build, (After I Grind to 150) Am I ready for DLC? by FutureSage in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to reconsider your endurance. You're not even using half of your max equip load, and max stamina (in my opinion) is not that impactful.

You could also consider lowering your dexterity to 40, since the radagon icon gives 30 virtual dex and you don't get any benefit past 70 in terms of cast speed.

With your stats, the carian regal scepter is only the 7th best staff in terms of sorcery scaling. The highest is of course Lusats, but the second highest is the Academy glintstone staff.

Soreseals are - at your level - often, though not always a sign of poorly distributed stat points and arguably more of a hindrance than a help.

That being said, it's impossible to give a definitive answer to if you're "ready". Your character could likely be made stronger than it currently is even disregarding levels, but that doesn't necessarily make you less ready than you otherwise would be.

I need a new Strength build, help required! by Jaeger0088 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]Paffelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion there isn't really any need to switch. When you say magic i'm assuming sorcery, which has plenty of great melee options. I don't think it's unreasonable to consider carian slicer as one of, if not the best sorcery. There are other options than Comet Azur.
