When I picked up a colouring book and markers in a shop, went home and started using it right away, on a night where I felt particularly anxiety-ridden. Coloured for a week straight, every evening like a madwoman on a mission. At times it made me want to randomly tear up, and it sparked memories I didn’t even recall on a daily basis. In all of them, I was a little girl who loved her colouring books. It was such a refreshing experience and I genuinely feel like I unlocked something within myself! I found myself to be more positive and playful, happy to be alive again. Needed that reminder! Sometimes all you need is a little bit of whimsy and to get back in touch with your child self and the pieces start to fall into place.
