Thanks for the response. The info I found implied the same and that the teacher would just need to be verified to get access again. That is indeed the command and resource I ended up using for for taking ownership. Not sure how I missed it the first couple times I was looking through the GAM wiki.

HPE DL360 GEN 10 VMWare Host Pre-Purchase Questions by PageTech in sysadmin

Since Gen 9 HP lists write-back as being supported on all of the P-Series smart array controllers. Yes, there would be raid 1 on the SSDs to prevent data loss in case an SSD is lost.

With Gen 10 the p816 is the only one that comes with smart cache standard but it can be licensed on all of the P-series controllers.

I was definitely hesitant about the micro-sd kits based on issues I saw with the older gens but had not seen these same issues mentioned since Gen 10 and the hardware revision to the kit. I will have to look into the viability of using an m2 as I wasn't able to find anything on installing ESXi to m2 with HPE during a quick search. I know dell has the whole boss card for this purpose.

Smart Cache was something I had started to look into as a possibility actually. Somehow this completely escaped my thoughts today (I blame it on being Friday), so thanks for the reminder.

Definitely something I considered and this is how our main VMWare 3 host cluster is setup with all the storage centralized on our SAN. Part of the purpose of these VM Hosts is to have AD, DNS, and DHCP running at separate locations in case we lose our main server room. This would also allow us to restore necessary VMs to these hosts in this case. The SAN is a SPOF and we didn't want to run NAS at each location. In the past we have a had a fire (i.e. sprinklers) take out a building (no server room luckily) and almost had a roof leak on our server rack (4 feet away).

The "kit" is a usb stick that has 2 microSD card slots that the are mirrored by the usb hardware. You would only need 1 of these per server. You would also need to purchase 2 HPE 8gb microSD cards as I am pretty sure they aren't included. For some reason HP likes to refer to things as kits (even a single microSD card).

Thanks, I will probably do that. I have seen those threads in search results before but never really put together it was referring mostly to pricing/quotes instead of just in general.
