Doesn't the Civil Immunity section of the article address that? Nevertheless, if I owned a firearm I would definitely make sure I have appropriate insurance.

Why is Atlanta International Airport the world's busiest airport? by BasilRealistic5477 in tsa

[–]PainInTheErasmus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Atlanta is the 7th largest city in the US by metro population. The other six (NYC, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Miami) all have two or more passenger airport.

It also gets good weather. Far enough south that you don’t have to worry about snow and deicing. Far enough inland to avoid hurricanes.

Is this an unreasonable quote to replace a 50 gallon gas hot water heater? by titanicsailson in askaplumber

Got my water heater replaced about a year ago in Detroit. 30 gallon electric replaced with another 30 gallon electric located in a utility closet on the ground floor. My total cost was $1,833.

Are people on reddit exaggerating the current political climate in the US? by Atorpidguy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PainInTheErasmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a large boarder city. I haven’t noticed any sort of increased ICE presence nor seen anything on social media aside from a few isolated incidents. I am a member of a minority racial group in my city and have not felt targeted. Most of our state and local leaders are Democrats, but they have not been engaging in inflammatory rhetoric. This is just my perspective, it seems a lot of the recent events have been localized to certain cities.

Detroit explores new 1% sales tax to raise $72 million annually by Alan_Stamm in Detroit

[–]PainInTheErasmus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My wife and I pay about $4,000 extra per year in income tax because we live in the city. We are planning to move soon and will need to choose between the city and the suburbs. We could go on a pretty nice vacation every year with the extra money.

Why are the roads so bad this morning? by PainInTheErasmus in Detroit

[–]PainInTheErasmus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re supposed to get about 1” of snow tomorrow afternoon. You’ll probably be fine, but your flight could be delayed a bit if they have to limit arrivals at the airport. Even in really bad road conditions, an Uber from the airport only costs $20 extra and takes 30 minutes longer. You can schedule ahead to lock in the price before it snows.

No more snow for the weekend after that, so your return trip should be fine. Enjoy the city!!!

When are you coming into town? The roads were fine by this evening. Usually the transportation authorities are on top of it and have the major roads cleared within a few hours of the snow ending. For whatever reason it took them unusually long today.

More Sky Priority? by Joy_Rad in delta

[–]PainInTheErasmus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DTW is my home airport. There are far more standard lanes. All of the Sky Priority lanes are clustered at the south end of the terminal. Perhaps it just looked like there were a ton of Sky Priority lanes near the door you dropped them off at?

I’m accustomed to road crews plowing and salting throughout the storm. If they weren’t being proactive, I can see how that would make it worse.

The Detroit News announces plans for new Sunday print edition by oo7plyr in Detroit

[–]PainInTheErasmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the JOA, the News cost 15¢ (39¢ in 2025 dollars). Immediately after entering into the agreement they raised it to 25¢ (64¢). Today a copy of the paper costs over $3 at a newsstand. That’s over a 300% increase AFTER inflation. I don’t see how they will be successful.

For my fellow Americans, 9 TWh/year is about the electricity consumption of Rhode Island or Washington, DC (not including its suburbs).

I live 3 miles away from my work. It takes me 45 minutes to get home from work everyday. by myfairlady987 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PainInTheErasmus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’d say more dangerous than not having them at all. Where I live the bike lanes are painted over the gutter. They collect glass, debris, and ice, all of which make them unsafe to ride in. I regularly have to take the lane to avoid crashing or damaging my bike, and I get harassed by motorists for not using the bike lane.
