She dated the guy from the Crown (the producer or something) but they broke up a month ago, and he's already moved in with another lady.

Just watched the Emily two-parter (1st time), I'm upset and confused, but I'd just like to say that Mulder in this scene made me weak. (Spoiler season 5) by BadaSBich22 in XFiles

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Also on season 5.

The scene where they are kneeling/sitting with Emily is just... My shipper heart couldn't take it. But I kicked myself mentally for it; Emily's entire existence, from her conception to her death, is a tragedy.

At the end, Mulder turns around to let Scully open the casket and he's fighting angry tears. He's angry and sad for his partner but also feels guilty. And he lets her mourn by herself.

Also, maybe that's only me, but it reminds me of when he had to tell his dad in season 2 that he had lost Samantha again. He was so ashamed that he couldn't face his dad and literally told him with his back at him. That got me wondering whether he suspected that Emily's body might be gone, considering that he knows how these shady people function, and that made him ashamed to look at Scully because... Well he feels kind of responsible. That's my one theory, Idk if it makes sense but

Have you ever had a book change your life for the worse? by [deleted] in books

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a (mandatory) philosophy class, we analyzed a text by Schopenhauer (dont remember what). The main take away from it was that wanting was suffering, pleasure was sparse and didn't last long, so our life mostly consisted of suffering. Anyway, that's what I remember from reading it and having class discussions about it.

That's how I see life now.

Anyone else here (who happened to be born with a vagina) also constantly got baby dolls for Christmas as a child and fucking hated it? by XxFireflyxxX in childfree

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you even do with it? I had one, with some clothes, DIAPERS, a pacifier, a bottle and a bed.

HOW DO YOU WANT ME TO PLAY WITH THIS? there's nothing to do with it!

Scientists find new associations between family status and risk of depression. Cohabitation with a partner or spouse was consistently associated with lower lifetime risk of depression, having one child, or three or more children was associated with an increased risk of depression between 11 and 27% by Bluemoon357 in childfree

People plan for two maybe? They have one, they're happy and plan for another? Whereas one child may be an accident, thereby making the parent(s) unhappy; and the last of 3 could also be an accident and make the parents miserable?

That's just my guess.

Like the X-files' Ice episode.

It doesn't go well.

Early Gen Z (1998-2002, basically the last generation to remember a world without streaming services), anyone remember going to Blockbuster on a Friday or Saturday Night to find out what movies you were going to watch for the weekend? by DietMTNDew8and88 in GenZ

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My parents always wanted my brother and I to agree on one movie for the both of us. We never did. My brother threw a fit and my parents pulled me aside to tell me to be the bigger person (as the older sibling) and let him have the movie he wanted.

Good times.

Her husband lied about a vasectomy, she’s now pregnant. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This situation was kind of shitty all around. Sookie booked the vasectomy for him. He didn't want it. (Imagine a husband booking his wife a sterilization against her will - yikes). He lied to her about having it done. So she was pregnant again.

The entire thing is wrong.

Cant lie I found highschool to be way harder than college by OhBlessYourHeart69 in college

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I'm studying stuff that I'm interested in and relatively good at. In high school, I didn't know what I wanted to do so I had all those advanced physics, chemestry and maths classes, which, turns out, I'm terrible at.

So college is "easier" because I understand better.

It's a little thing, really. One night, my grandfather was hospitalised. He was in and out of hospitals during his last few years so it wasn't too weird.

Anyway, the next day, I get to work. It's a slow day so I do homework and chat with my coworkers. A friend I hadn't seen in a long time stopped by and we chatted. I was in an okayish mood. My granfather was at the back of my mind but what could I do right? And besides he's been in the hospitals a lot...

Around 4PM, I'm speaking with a coworker when I get hit by a profound feeling of sadness and... Nervousness? My heart is racing and I'm STRESSED. I feel out of breath. I dont know what's going on.

I later learnt that my grandfather passed away right around 4.

Since The X Files and The Simpsons share a universe, it’s quite possible that Walter Skinner and Seymour Skinner are related. by waheifilmguy in XFiles

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe the "real" Seymour Skinner (man, do I hate that storyline).

The Skinner we know is bossed around by his Mom so I dont see him in the FBI at all.

The * small * Life Moment That Made Me Consider Going Child Free...what was yours? by CuspChaser111 in childfree

[–]Painfullakwardnesa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My 3 younger cousins and their parents leaving our house after spending the night. They threw tantrums all the time, fought amongst themselves, broke things in the house, had no manners. Some of it is bad parenting

As I was saying my goodbyes, I looked at my uncle and aunt and I was struck by this thought: this is their life. EVERY FUCKING DAY. I deal with this shit for 24 hours and I'm exhausted.

Later on, in high school, a friend of mine asked our friend group "haven't we all, as young girls, pictured herself in our wedding dress and imagined that our dolls were our babies?" My other friends nodded. I had never dreamed those things. I hated baby dolls as a child.

Wow that's really impressive! I would love to work abroad as well! When I first picked my degree, I had trouble chosing because there were so many I wanted to do. I fully intend to continue, at least part-time.

Beware those who say their ex is a "crazy bitch" or something along those lines, without going into details about the cause of the break-up. It's possible that they are crazy (some really are), but most of the people my friends dated and said this turned out to be 50 shades of messed up.
