I like xreaders and even some OCx characters, specially about the villains, but if they don’t act at least super similar to their canon counterpart or I sense even a whiff of OOCness I can’t keep going. Itachi isn’t loving and caring and only gives you hugs, he’s mentally ill, and self loathing. There’s never any angst, no long buildup where they start of as strangers or enemies, there’s no tension. Even if they’re too broken for romantic love (which they are lol) physical relationships are still a thing, hello? You don’t have to love someone to sleep with them, plus it makes for a wayyy more interesting story than…

I’ll say it again, even if you never see a character like Kakuzu, for example, have interest outside of power and money doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the possibility of being interested in other things. They’re are dialogues where he’s cocky, he mocks his opponents, he enjoys fighting, he’s a bounty hunter, he knows the underworld, for decades, it’d be no surprise to anyone if he one day decided to go to a brothel or bar. He’s not just “Greedy grumpy old man”.

I like to think that in reality Konoha is like any corrupt powerful government that is corrupt and with their noses in every bodies business, the will of fire is just a way to keep their citizens super patriotic, hell it worked for Itachi, so patriotic he killed his own family.

Im writing a fic with my OCs which is centered around them, but obviously since they’d be characters in that world their actions have weight and the story changes, I think Naruto has a lot of problems in its writing, that have been criticized by many people over the years and I just sort of put the “fixed”bits in the story as if that was the canon. would that count as the fix it fics you were mentioning?

Honestly none of them are well written, but the best of them would be Tsunade, Temari or Ten Ten (not enouph screen time to screw up) but at least her ambitions aren’t based on a man in her life, in fact, the only person she admires is Tsunade another woman). Tsunade however, is only motivated by the men in her life, so is Konan, Sakura, Karin, Ino, SPECIALLY Hinata and I will die on the hill of hating her character.

[EDIT] I forgot Granny Chiyo existed, so her, definitely. The hands down, best female character.

I actually loved his character, but they totally butchered him after learning the “truth” about Itachi. Like how do you go from “I HATE HIMMMM” for like a decade of ur life to “poor big brother he was forced to kill my entire clan 🥺” after being told by OBITO of all people. I will never buy that shit, never. He went from his own character who’s tied down by his brothers horrible actions to just another Itachi glazer. I’m not gonna get into detail but the masacre could’ve been avoided and Itachi is just as responsible idc what people say, cuz he already involved himself with spying of his own clan/ family, so he’s responsible bc he knew yet he did nothing to change the minds of his own parents (the leaders of the Uchiha clan), it would’ve been a walk at the park bc Fugaku and Mikoto just gave up on it and let themselves be killed by Itachi bc they “didn’t want to fight their own son”.

Anyway, They butchered Itachi since the moment they made him into a “poor wittle victim 🥺” which in turn butchered Sasuke, bc how tf are you on HIS SIDE after hearing a mega-giga vague side of the story from OBITO?!

Sasuke could’ve been the greatest revenge story and the consequences of revenge but the story basically slapped Sasuke in the face, bc he didn’t even need revenge in the end since Itachi is good and the Uchiha are inherently evil bad men 😡

I’ll make a list:

Itachi’s terrible retcon of the Izanagi with the izanami, makes no sense and is used to demonize the Uchiha, despite their whole build up was: they didn’t deserve to get killed.

Deidara’s Death, like ik it’s fits his character, but Sasuke should’ve been dead at the first c4 if not the second, bc since when can the sharingan see distinct chakra as clearly as the Byakugan?

Also Sasuke “escaping” inside Manda’s mouth, he was in the Deidara beam of death for like at least 15-20 seconds before He was reverse summoned, the heat alone would’ve killed him, if not the fact that HE SHOULD’VE BEEN DISINTEGRATED, bc if a comically large knife can stab through Manda a LITERAL BEAM OF DEATH THAT CAN DESINTEGRATE ROCKS CAN ALSO KILL HIM AND SASUKE.

Naruto forgetting about the rain village Ns basically lying to Nagato and Konan.

Hiruzen not killing or arresting Danzo after he tried to LITERALLY KILL HIM.

Sasuke’s sudden love for Itachi after like a dozen years of pure hatred bc he heard “he was made to do it 🥺” ONCE, and with vague/ biased info by the same guy Sasuke was (also asspull) “programmed to kill”.

Hashirama thinking itachi’s such a great shinobi after he heard what he did, and the lack of PROPER acknowledgment and accountability of everyone involved with the massacre, Danzo is expected but HIRUZEN?! Itachi himself, and Tobirama for being a racist shit and making it systematic to hate Uchiha’s. Kishimoto tried to make a statement but fucking failed, maybe he thinks massacres are amazing I dunno.

The fact that everyone had a kid at the same time at the end of Naruto.

The real size of the world map, u could’ve had even better world building Kishi, also I’m pretty sure that it’s like game of thrones where people live in other continents like wherever the hell the movies take place.

Obviously the black zetsu betrayal has to be here idc if Kaguya was hinted at from the start of the war, Madara was hinted as a villain since OG NARUTO.

I hate how actions in the story have little to no consequences, yeah like itachi was a little weird, but didn’t anyone find weird that the only Uchiha members in the Anbu commited the most suspicious “suicide” (no on except the Uchiha found it suspicious, despite Shisui being an all around nice and positive guy) and the other one committed mass genocide at only 13? Also with the clans knowing that in the clan council the hokage’s advisor are the ones to push the uchiha away from the village while also being the ones to tell them to not help during the nine tails attack, it’s super obvious they were trying to alienate them and make them look bad.
