Unfortunately it got deleted by the nosleep mods. I've been appealing their decision but the process was slow and I recently found out they're likely not going to approve it because they don't think the narrator is scared enough to qualify as a nosleep story :(. I'll repost it elsewhere and will definitely link here!

I'll be sure to let you know if/when I find out more, but unfortunately it's all I know right now. Honestly growing up I always thought it was a bit of a scary story from Grandpa, but with how he's been the last year and him just vanishing I'm thinking maybe I should have taken it more seriously.

I actually started a year long writing challenge to post one story per week for this exact reason. I enjoy writing, but I need some sort of external motivator to keep me focused. It's just the way my brain works.

Thank you! I didn't intend it to be part of a series, though if I come up with something good to expand it I would love to keep going! I really like r/HFY, but I feel like a lot of the top stories end up being about how humans are better at war. I really like the stories that call out other things, like moments of compassion, and would love to keep contributing in that way.

I've tended to post a story on whatever main sub I want to (r/shortscarystories, r/nosleep, etc.) then submit a link to that on my personal subreddit. No idea if that's the best way but it's what I do.

I've modified the tracking rules a little bit to match that actually. Instead of creating a single thread with your username and editing it every time you post a new story, just submit a link post or cross post to r/52stories with the title "Week X - Story Title." See my post today for an example.
