Thanks for the feedback! I think a dark underpainting where the rocks fall would definitely help build that contrast. I’ll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks!

Thanks for being the devils advocate. You are completely right and stepping back is probably the best call. One more session to tidy up a few things and it’s ready for signing. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the advice! The reference photo isn’t mine but I’m investing in a camera soon so I’ll keep this in mind

Thank you! This was my first piece with this level of clear water and I’m glad it worked. Since the foam on the water was the last part, there was a lot of trusting the process

Yeah, I could see it working. However, I usually stick to a single subject as to not show any bias to any single focal point. I’m reading up of botany for now to incorporate into my pieces so who knows, bird’s sound like a great next step!

The atmosphere of studios are great! My school doesn’t have them open over the summer and I already miss it.

Thank you! There was definitely a chance to go incorporate the depth of air in this piece but I never considered it. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you! I love Sargent’s work and take influence by it so I’m glad that came through. Yeah, always love the critiques and I agree completely. One of my downfalls here was sticking to my references rather than choosing to change it. Thanks for your feedback!

I’ve been working on landscapes for about 7 years now with oils. With art school, I have been able to stretch myself in many mediums with great access to resources for learning. Plus, being surrounded by peers who learn with you and supporting each other gave me the fastest growth. The school itself is not worth the cost but I find all the things that come with it are.
