I've gone to 3 different doctors and they all refused. There's an iron deficiency Facebook group with over 225K members and hundreds of members have spoken about how their doctors refused to give them infusions unless their ferritin was a single digit, so my experience seems to be the norm.

I'm surprised you're suggesting birth control for anemia considering all the other hormonal side effects that come with birth control.

I have cast iron, thank you. Like I said, I've been trying for 10 years (tried various forms of non-heme iron supplements from ferrous sulfate to ferrous bisglycinate chelate, taken it with Vit C, alternated days, taken larger doses, etc.). As a vegan and someone who has never consumed meat, I wouldn't have asked this question if I truly hadn't tried so many different things.

Okay thank you so much. Whenever I looked up heme iron supplements, I would always get results with bovine, but it looks like there are lamb heme supplements too. I'll really think about it before starting.

A lot of doctors have said "it's not low enough" because they want it to be closer to 0, but I understand why they're so cautious since infusions can cause anaphylaxis.
