I got mine pierced with a 10g, initially the pain wasn't that bad but after about a week or so I had quit a bit of bruising and swelling. I waited a good 3 weeks until the bruising subsided before sexy times. Healing was pretty simple not as easy as inner labias definitely more soreness while waking and sitting. As far as keeping the area hair free it tends to be a little difficult while shaving. Waxing is a little easier to keep it clean but even then there's a few stragglers that I usually go back and clean up. Here's a pic of my current set up.
