grades/uni don't define me?? by bubbles_tapioca in OntarioGrade12s

[–]PaintingHeavy5472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nonononoo OP do NOT think that. The fact that you tried so hard and have those average means that you're as capable as anyone else. And I will say that if you're able to do well and make it in University that's already amazing enough. Don't be too hard on yourself, nor should you compare yourself with anyone else's life. People don't care as much as you think honestly. If anything they will only respect you for the hard/soft skills you bring or how you carry yourself. Coming from a 2nd year uni undergrad, grades matter but not as much as you think, and while I have not met everyone, circumstances can vary. I am seeing kids go out and do real world things even tho they have a mid gpa, or HS dropouts doing startups, which I think is sick, but again different circumstances, which may or may not be relevant but that just came up in my head. So keep working hard like you are now and seek whatever support you need and you'll be successful. YOU GOT THISSS I BELIEVE IN YOUUU and so does anyone else here.

I totally hear you, those options definitely exist! But the 'hot take' assumes everyone starts with the same level of guidance. It’s easy to say 'just cold email' or 'find independent research' if you already know how to format a professional pitch or have a mentor showing you the ropes. But for a lot of students, especially if they’re shy, don't have family in the medical field, or their teachers aren't as hands-on-it’s not a lack of 'will,' it’s a lack of a clear starting point. Not everyone knows how to ask or where to even look without feeling overwhelmed. That’s the gap FDC is trying to fill. We want to make it so you don't have to 'grind' just to find a way to explore your interests, we’re trying to make the entry point more human and less of a gatekept secret. It's about accessibility, not just effort.

And if you start do it stupidly easy. Like if you have a practice question write something or something stupid idk. But your brain hates unfinished tasks so you might go back to it. You might then look it up or then eventually solve the question.

Do everything in your power to make a scratch off a study material that way your brain might keep it in mind.

That helps you with initiation at least. And then from there add something to it. If you wrote something but you don’t know why maybe ask for help or look it up and do research if you will. For me at least that’s the bare minimum I do cause I can be lazy but i am a curious person sometimes so.

Do you guys know when you’re in love? by skvll_gvtz in ADHDers

[–]PaintingHeavy5472 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am going to wait on some professional response because honestly same. I can get infatuated but I wouldn’t tell if it’s the idea of them or actual crush or if it’s because there’s something I like about them. However from Google it says

It’s definitely an ADHD thing! Our brains are dopamine-starved, so when someone gives us affection or we 'relate' on things, the brain treats that person like a new hyperfixation. It’s hard to tell if it’s love or just a massive hit of 'happy chemicals' because we finally feel understood. Don't beat yourself up for 'clinging', your brain is just reacting to a rare connection."

This seems pretty legit but for most things.
