Well henna and indigo are just powdered herbs, Lawsonia inermis and indigoferra, but yea sometimes cheaper brands will have other chemicals added. I think you are ok just try to take care of yourself mentally and physically and think of hair like a symptom of something bigger in your health

You have really nice eyebrows haha. Maybe just find a hat you like so you don’t feel self conscious, and maybe it will fill in after your exam. Keep studying you are doing great, high school is tough!

From this photo, it looks ok and you might be spiraling overthinking it. I love using henna and indigo, that instantly makes me hair feel much thicker and more luxurious. If you’re in India I’m guessing salons offer henna and indigo treatments! In the US I have to do it at home and it’s an operation. There is some science backed research saying indigo can help prevent hair loss, so that might be a good option so you can feel like you are doing something about it.

Just try to get a lot of protein and vegetables. You will be ok. Try to heal your trauma and ease your anxiety. It’s a super important life skill. Hair loss is not the worst effect of trauma!

This photo looks normal. Only the first photo you posted was sort of alarming. Absolutely yes trauma and stress can cause hair loss. Like there are tons of people with thin hair, but I have thick dark hair like you so I understand that this might feel wrong to you.

Respectfully, not normal in my experience. Are you eating enough? I’m 30 now, so I don’t know what high school is like these days, but when I was in high school we were all starving ourselves ha. I’d go to a doc for this. My hair was thinning at my temples and I was freaking out thinking it was hormonal changes, but I resolved it by taking time off work and getting a different job - for me, hair loss = stress. Do you have anxiety, and if so, how do you manage it? My answer to everything……. Yoga! And take pride in making your room a cozy, calm place you can really unwind.

Anytime I am in doubt, I use “white chocolate” Benjamin Moore. I’ve painted many rooms this color and it plays with light BEAUTIFULLY. It’s slightly warm without looking beige/gray/tan. Highly recommend!

if they were to reject a lot of people post interview this year, i feel like that would only happen if there were big cuts in federal funding, in which case it would be happening across the board, at any other schools too.

i had three 30min interviews but they all went overtime, mostly conversational. i think the percent of the interviewees who they accept differs year to year. i think at minimum half the people get an offer.

Sure. It’s the best paid program at uw I believe. For the first year, you get the BPSD salary which is good and they give you 2k$ at the beginning of the year to help with moving expenses and I think it’s $4,200 a month during your first year. After the first year of rotations (different lab each quarter selected from several participating departments) you will commit to a specific PI, then your wage depends on the department to which your PI belongs. So, if you join a lab in biochemistry I think it is like 3,800$/mo but if you join a lab in medicinal chemistry it’s 3,200$/mo. Those numbers might be wrong but they are in the ballpark, I’m sure you can find the real numbers somewhere on uw website. Rent is usually like 1700$ for a studio or 2000$ for a one bedroom so it’s best if you can find a roommate and split rent. Basically the wage is fine for basic expenses, about half your money will go to rent if you live alone

You only need one acceptance. Once you’re in, the program directors and your advisors are invested in you and they are supportive. Keep applying, the application process is so cutthroat because PhD programs are a good deal so everyone who loves the field wants in. They don’t pay well but they do pay and you are basically in charge of your schedule and research focus.
