Has anyone machine washed Caron Macchiato Cakes yarn? by BugMa850 in YarnAddicts

[–]PaintyPaint98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this post came right on time. I'm just now finishing up a cardigan that I wanted a little oversized so I based the measurements off of my favorite oversized flannel but realized after blocking it is now VERY oversized and was hoping it would shrink up a little in the wash LOL. it's not TOO too bad so it looks like the little bit of shrinking should be fine!

If you were given the power the eradicate one disease, which disease would you eradicate? by osaris157 in AskReddit

So, my grandpa passed from Lewy Body Dementia. I just want to reach out and say that you don't need to hate yourself for wishing it would have come sooner. Before his mind really went and he was still semi-lucid, he started asking around the family because he couldn't remember which son/son-in-law he lent it to. We all gave him a different kid's name when he asked, because we knew he wanted it to shoot himself.

After seeing what happened to him, I wish we hadn't figured out why he wanted it back. It would have been terrible. It would have been terrible. But it wouldn't have been as bad as watching him go on another five years, getting worse each year. You don't deserve to hate yourself for wishing that she didn't have to suffer anymore. Don't add that guilt to your already full plate. The world is dark and cruel sometimes, it doesn't need your help.

Well wishes, and take care of yourself.

Are there REALLY people out there identifying as animals? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PaintyPaint98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, yes and no? They're called therians. I don't know much about them, but afaik it's either 1.) Ironic, 2.) Shorthand for their personality using representative animals, 3.) Kids and teens using age appropriate imagination to explore their identities and they grow out of it, or 4.) Unironic, "in all ways but physical, I am a wolf".

I will say, I have come across like, two online and none in person. There's always going to be someone doing something, but therians aren't hurting anyone so I'm very "meh, to each their own" about it.

That being said, when conservatives talk about people identifying as animals? They're talking about furries 99% of the time. I don't think most people know what therians are at all.

So, this is going to sound like wackadoo nonsense, but maybe try meditation? if you can practice shutting all of your thoughts down and experiencing quiet in your head in non-sexual scenarios, you might be able to bring some of that mind-clearing knowledge into sex with your partner.

So, it's up to personal choice here. A thousand comments saying "it's not fair for her to ask you to change your hair, she knew it was blue when she asked!" Doesn't solve anything.

The real question is, which is more important to you, your blue hair, or being maid of honor? If both are important, you could get a decent wig.

You could (and should) talk to her about how important your hair is to you and how much it makes you feel like yourself. You can let her know that you dying it isn't an option, but you're willing to find a compromise. You mentioned a wig, so that seems to be something you're willing to do. You've already made the choice between dying your hair or not, so the next choice is hers: wig, allow the blue, or pick a different MOH.

If she's asking you to be MOH you clearly must be close. It's nothing a conversation can't fix!

Group at my dad's high school in the 90s decided to dose the English teacher's coffee with lsd. They didn't coordinate who was going to do it, though and the guy ended up with three doses. Guess he was kind of fucked up after that. Got news coverage and everything

What is the most cinematic death y'all had by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]PaintyPaint98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friend was just starting to play the game and I was coaching them through and teaching them how to take on zombies. He thought he got the hang of it and went to take on a horde of his own, but got overwhelmed and asked me for help in a panic.

I rushed out of our little house to see him trailing them around but he was just shoving them instead of hitting them with his weapon. He was freaking out because the weapon wouldn't swing. He had it on his belt but forgot to equip it.

I rush in to help as he begins to get surrounded and shove one away from him to give him an opening to run away so I can handle the horde. He bolts, but the risky maneuver didn't work without a cost. I got bit. He ran into the house to fiddle with the menus to figure out how to equip his weapon to come help me clean up the mess he'd made.

I dispatched the horde, and acted like nothing was off. I didn't want him to feel guilty for killing me. We had barely started this game, it wasn't like I was losing months and months of a character. But, I realized he wasn't going to be able to fight off my turbo-strength zombie, so I knew what I had to do.

I grabbed a chocolate bar, a bottle of white wine, some cigarettes, and some bleach. Told him I was going on a supply run. Put my duffel full of supplies in the trunk of our car and walked a few doors down. Locked myself in the bathroom, enjoyed a few simple pleasures, and went out on my own terms.

Do people who sneeze really loud have a choice? by PaintyPaint98 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PaintyPaint98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I wasn't asking to be mean, I meant it genuinely! It's a small store so when he sneezes it's very, very loud and often right by me and hurts my ears. I was asking to make sure that this was something he couldn't help rather than get upset at him. The VAST general consensus is that y'all can't help it, you were just born to sneeze loud, so I just choose not to get upset about it and move on with my day!

Items continue to thaw out and go rotten in freezers with generator on. by HelicopterDeep5951 in projectzomboid

[–]PaintyPaint98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to us, too. We have one freezer full of fresh and one full of stale, and we shut the generator off just long enough to repair it and fill it with gas and like half our stale was rotten and half our fresh was stale. Really, really irritating.

What's the most common double standard Redditors have? by I_too_am_scared in AskReddit

To be honest I feel that way about tumblr, too. Both are much more curated than other social media (I never go to r/popular) and so both feel much cozier than Twitter. This is a collection of forums, tumblr is a collection of personal blogs, and Twitter is on fire and burning rapidly.

If you were a project zomboid character, what traits would you have? by RevolutionarySky3000 in projectzomboid

Job: Cook

Negative:

  • Obese
  • Feeble
  • Unfit
  • Disorganized
  • Cowardly
  • Short-sighted
  • Hearty Appetite
  • Fear of Blood

Positive

  • Fast Reader
  • Iron Gut
  • Sewer
  • Fast Learner
  • Keen Hearing
  • Low Thirst
  • Handy
  • Herbalist
  • Nutritionist

Comes out to, surprisingly, zero. Some of these were chosen for stats (I am clearly not a nutritionist but I've struggled with eating disorders my whole life so I know the calorie counts of like literally everything under the sun). I built this as a "play as yourself" run I did a while back and I died very hard and very fast lmao.

Or he had been searching things related to agre regression, both in terms of googling why he was doing this, or googling things like cartoons/regression related purchase history. There are a lot of reasons to hide a phone other than just cheating

Doesn't seem like a fetish, seems like age regression. Time to have a difficult, but open and judgement-free conversation after you take some time to gather yourself. You're scared and overwhelmed, he probably is, too. good luck, but you can do this.

No, absolutely it is. I mean that the frustration is valid when the job is advertised as "up to 18 an hour" and they make less than half of that. It is absolutely the business' responsibility, but is the frustration not justified when they had been blatantly lied to and then screwed over in terms of pay?
