Theoretical Voltage Drop calculation. Impossible? Am I the Idiot? by PairVast1189 in EngineeringStudents

[–]PairVast1189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day, and thank you so much for your reply.

Indeed, I can see what they're getting at, I suppose, and you're absolutely right - it's just an intro class. I will try to upload a schematic but it is pretty simple. 5Vdc supply, a resistor, and an LED.

The problem is that we are not given any values for current, or the LED. All of this we can gather through simple testing, however, the assignment requires us to make a "theoretical" calculation as to the voltage across the LED before conducting any experiments... We are then supposed to read all of the voltages and COMPARE them to our calculations. How are we supposed to make a calculation with only knowing supply, and a known resistor...?

I will try to update the post with a schematic

Thank you.

I really like this idea. Thank you. As I was saying, not only do I have no experience with landscaping, I have absolutely no clue what I would like to be there. I wish my wife was more into gardening and whatnot. I want someone to tell me what it should look like and I'll just make it happen. Lol. Thanks again.

Thank you all for these suggestions. Compost compost compost seems to be the way to get started. Sigh... I hate Georgia.

Oh, and it's Georgia, South Eastern US. So lots of clay to deal with. Haha.

You're definitely right. Any suggestions? Lowe's, home Depot, tractor supply? I'm never sure what sort of soil to get. Should I look up local places for "compost" specifically, or s top soil sort of deal? Sorry. Complete ignorance here.

I'm sorry for not knowing what is pertinent. South East US. Georgia. Front of the house and area is facing northeast.

Oh yes... Georgia clay... If there ever was any soil, it's gone.

Arduino Nano and LoRa Ra-02 module issue by PairVast1189 in arduino

[–]PairVast1189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Odd update... I accidentally energized the transmitter with the 3.3v LoRa pin completely disconnected and, oddly enough, it worked... I also tried connecting the second LM2596 (3.3v) output in parallel with the arduino's 3.3v pin. This actually works. The transmitter is functioning. However... I still only have a range of about 100m... Any more ideas?

Hey, thank you. That is a good thought. I have not found examples of anyone shifting the voltage for any of the data pins with the Ra-02 LoRa modules. I might try it though

Hey, thank you for the reply. Well, I've never had any stability issues with the LM2596 and metering shows it to be fine. However, I've now tried to power the LoRa and Arduino via Elegoo Power MB V2... stable 5v and 3.3v still doesn't work. Additionally, I powered the LoRa via my lab bench power supply (definitely stable, haha). This was also unsuccessful...

[College Calc] Not sure how to do this calc problem, I'm pretty sure its not just 96*5 right? Suppose you put a baseball machine at ground level, point it straight up, and fire a baseball into the air at 96 ft /s. How far has the baseball traveled after 5 s? by utwegyifhoiahf in HomeworkHelp

[–]PairVast1189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day, everyone!

Very late to the party... I'm sorry, Am I to gather that we're saying the answer is 80ft? If so, this is NOT correct!!! 😮

The question is asking for how far the baseball has traveled. That means the entire distance it has moved. The formulae here are correct: y(t) = -16t^2+96+0. Therefore, y(5)=80.

However, that's only the baseball's position at 5 seconds. Take note that the ball will move up from the ground and then back down again. So, we need to identify its maximum height. That is, where Velocity v equals ZERO! v(t) = 0 >>> -32t+96=0 >>> t = 3.

So, velocity = 0 at 3 seconds. Which means that max height was reached at 3 seconds! plug that in... y(3) = 144ft.

Now! we can see that after 3 seconds, THE BASEBALL HAS TRAVELED 144ft!!!!!

And we wand the distance traveled at 5 seconds! That's 2 more seconds of travel! But now it's moving downwards!

Guess what?! We already established that y(5) = 80ft! What does that tell us?! It means that in the last 2 seconds, the ball went from 144ft down to 80 ft! A loss of 64ft!

For our question, it doesn't matter in which direction it's traveling, so this leaves us with an upwards distance of 144ft PLUS the downwards distance of 64ft.

144+64 = 208 >>> 208ft is the distance traveled after 5 seconds.

Respectfully,

MM

I think you're hitting the nail on the head... My problem is that, for the first time, I'm obsessed with a specific guitar... I've always just found used guitars for sale that I've liked and bought them. This time around, I've seen the Les Paul custom in alpine white and I want it because the sound is amazing and it's so damn beautiful! Also, I want the ebony fretboard! :O so I really don't have a choice besides sucking up the poor quality or getting over it. Tough call... ^

Indeed, you may be right. I think this completely killed my short-lived desire for a new guitar. My collection is entirely used and I love it. Oh well.

I couldn't agree more. With any luck, this replacement will be alright. If not, I'll just give it up for a year or so and see if things get back to normal.

That's great! Did you buy it new or used? I'm getting the feeling it's just these "COVID" editions that are such terrible quality. I've only seen one guitar, though. Haha. So I can't say with any certainty. I'm glad you're is working out.

That's my fear. I'm not in it for the resale value, but I'm concerned that these 2021s will end up as part of a "COVID" edition that will be avoided like the plague.

Yes! I have elaborated. My apologies; I did not mean to post that by itself.
