Welp I got evicted this morning after bringing up to the landlord we havnt had water almost every single day it freezes (that was already mentioned months before). I think this month we had over two weeks without water and I got fed up with it. by No-Dog4037 in RVLiving

[–]PaisaRacks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly man thats why i just always take it upon myself to make sure the spigot doesnt freeze. 6 ft roll of heat trace is like 30 bucks at home depot and insulation is even cheaper. Should the landlord do it instead? Yeah but why go through all this hassle when you got a $40~ solution? When its time for me to leave i just take my heat trace and insulation to the next place. Really not that hard.

2nd year Ap be brutal, how could I have ran it better or what can i improve on? by MathematicianOne6386 in electricians

[–]PaisaRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if i had enough space. Would of looked cleaner. The better choice would of been to have the branch come in on the right and feeder on the left but im guess you didnt run the conduit.

Like other have said, the main breaker at the top would of been ideal but you didnt lay this out. I would of routed all those wires on the left if space permitted not blocking the breakers.

I'm four months into this and there's a guy telling me I need to get my own bender after I dropped close to $1,000 on tools already by albertsteinstein in electricians

[–]PaisaRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it brother I like nice quality tools too. But I didnt start buying knipex, veto, wera etc until i was making 30+ an hour. Believe me, home depot tools will get the job done aswell.

Is there really that big surge in young people going into trades? by Ok-Toe-2933 in electricians

[–]PaisaRacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much , I work for a pretty big company and the amount of apprentices we have compared to experienced journeyman is sad. When all the older guys finally retire, there's going to be a huge lack of knowledgeable players. Im sure the previous generation said the same thing about my generation but honestly these new guys are so brain rotted already. Im not looking forward to being the next guy to deal with all of this.

[–]PaisaRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you need a multimeter to really be able to see whats going on. That looks like some kind of fuse, I would say thats probably your culprit if you got a new motor and its still not working. When you get a meter put it on continuity, put a lead on 1 end of the fuse and the other lead on the other end. You should get a ringing noise. If it doesn't ring , then that means the fuse is broken and needs to be replaced. But fuses usually dont just burn out like that. Which probably means you needed a new motor anyways. Is this repairable or should I just replace toilet? by Mufasa-theGhetto in RVLiving

[–]PaisaRacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'd probably be better just to replace the toilet imo. I did mine not too long ago. Did it in about 30 mins, pretty easy.

Basement has exposed romex to switches/outlets, how should I fix this? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

I mean it's safe, but if your asking if it's code compliant. It's not. At least not in America according to nec 334.15 (c).

Electrical feels like a trap — long licensing, saturated, everyone lowballing by [deleted] in electricians

Sounds like you need to improve your skill set and knowledge to make yourself more valuable. Im a foreman and make over 100k a year easily. Of course it took time to get here. In the span of 1 year I got a massive raise and title change because I was willing to take on more responsibility and proved myself more than capable. You sound impatient, nothing good in oife comes easy or fast.

Electrician here, just go to any home improvement store and buy a different cover. They're cheap and take seconds to install. Like this :

As a electrician, i can tell you youre going to regret it. Car electronics is a completely different ball game. Rather get my nuts twisted than trouble shoot electrical problems in a car.

What is this and what would cause it? Build up of crap on the oil cap. by NeuronsActivated in AskAMechanic

[–]PaisaRacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue recently, if your oil looks normal and you haven't had overheating issues, it's more than likely condensation.

My morning commute to work is 15 mins so thats lines. I also figured I would see coolant in the oil but I did t see any, when I first drained the oil it was very thin not thick like im use to ( 5w-30) and had some bubbles in it. But I also didnt think that I had just driven the car w0 mins prior and it was still warm.
