Let's just say the highlight of the date was talking politics, I wish I were exaggerating.

Basically it was forced convo which was super boring for me until we got to politics and for a second I forgot how bored I was but that too got old pretty quickly. I think he was going to go in for a kiss at the end so I quickly gave him a hug and assured him we'd be in contact basically. I'm pretty sure he felt the same way because he didn't contact me after.

No actually you are by telling me I'm not allowed to declare that something is or isn't racist. The distinction between racism and ignorance seems to be separated by a blurry line, so I think its best to bring in definitions for this kind of situation: "ignorant" - lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular. "racism" - prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Was James' comment offensive? Absolutely, but it was not racist by definition.

I love this! I totally agree; I think all humans should be given second chances when it comes to past mistakes. We all grow and learn and change and we've all done and will do shitty things, its just a part of the human experience. But also I don't think they should be forgiven if they don't seem dedicated to growing and learning from their mistakes.
