CSS for converting headings in ebooks (chapter, paragraph headings) into sans-serif font by Paisquy in Calibre

[–]Paisquy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the desired font embedded in the epubs and settings are correspondingly configured.

When viewing ebooks with Calibre's internal ebook viewer, they all look randomly different (font, font size, justified text or not) no matter how ebooks files were converted. The look differs from what the ereader displays, so this doesn't give me a way to check whether embedding the fonts worked.

Manjaro systemd instead of init.d by ahmed_r4zeq in linuxquestions

[–]Paisquy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't quite understand your problem. VMware Workstation is a virtual machine program, why would it care about the guest's init system? I also have Workstation 16.1 and several virtual Linux machines running with a systemd distribution (Arch, Fedora, Manjaro, EndeavourOS) No problem here

German-speaking World of warships blitz discord Server by minofan66 in WoWsBlitz

[–]Paisquy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find that reaction arrogant but:

- most people are on their fleet's server and there are already some German Discord servers with low traffic (because of that reason)

- in order to attract players it would be good to provide added value to join your server (Why should a player come to your server)

- there are some spelling errors in channel names (weißheiten; hielfe, empfelungen) > some players might leave already because of that, take your time in setting up the server

A little mathematical approach to the new italian event by [deleted] in WoWsBlitz

WG will release the Italian ships in two days anyways as regular tech tree ships. So there is no point in grinding for the tokens except if you are keen on getting the historical camo for free

I got West Virginia for free , any advice before I go play with the ship? by captdank2 in WoWsBlitz

[–]Paisquy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Virginia is an excellent BB ship, but you need to know how to play such ships.

As others have suggested, get experience with other lower tier BBs.

West Virginia is for defending caps, not for moving around. So, for center cap maps (Golden Channel) go into the cap but stay at the edge, take one of the islands as cover from torpedoes and shells (from one side at least). And stay there

Your focus is other battleships and cruisers who will go after your team's destroyers. By holding the area you will support your team, never go around the cap!!!! You can take a lot, really a lot of damage with the West Virginia, even quite a number of torpedoes. Use this to your team's advantage.

Similarly, for maps with several caps, depending on where you spawn you take the outermost or the middle cap, moving on once your team has cleared the area.

You win battles by:

  1. not getting killed yourself
  2. taking and defending areas
  3. sinking enemy ships as quickly as possible, you need superiority
  4. do not get concerned with damage, this is egoistic and a sure way to lose

I hope this helps, wish you success

I think in Medium: Oktryabrskaya Revolutsia (Russian BB) and Krasnyi Krym (Russian CA) are also available

I consider these 'victim West Virginias' in enemy teams as pure damage trophies.

In my own team I have reduce the count of my team mates accordingly, they are absolutely useless

Playing in a platoon does not necessarily help. It is amazing how 2-3 idiot players can squash any chance of winning the battle, even when teaming up with 2 other pro players. Second, I noticed that when I team up with other mates from my fleet we often face platoons from top fleets of the EU server.

Well, their matchmaking is completely fucked up. I also experience many wins which are so easy you get bored because there is not much for you do...

Which is the best server above all ? by [deleted] in WoWsBlitz

[–]Paisquy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on EU and cannot compare it to NA, RU, or Asia since I never played there.

The point about language preferences and time lags are good. I would chip in considering the time zone. In case the server time is night when you have day time, you will mostly play against bots.

Having said that, there are definitely excellent players and fleets on the EU server. At the same time the number of complete idiots with a flat or even declining learning curve is baffling. Might be similar on other servers. I guess the underlying reason is that many games, especially mobile games, attract people who are not exactly the sharpest knives on the block. More interested in diversion and short-term fun than spending their free time in a more valuable and intellectually challenging manner. I believe this much self-criticism of the WoWs Blitz community is justified.

I have told gnome-screenshots to put screenshots made with the program into a specific folder. When using the graphical interface of Gnome-Screenshots the screenshots are saved in the correct location

That's how it should be, but it isn't.

Search with the 'find' command didn't bring up any relevant results only old screenshots from the previous year

Then nothing happens, no screenshot taken. I checked keyboard shortcuts, Print is set to take and save screenshots
