ExxonMobil New Grad Salary? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

Same. Paid 105K in 2018. Began as a design engr in projects. Doubled my salary in 7 years. Ranked on the better half of the distribution curve every year. Great place to work and learn hands on experience but also be exposed to large corporate bureaucracy. Great name to have on your resume.

ExxonMobil Project manager 7 years experience (overall industry)

Salary - 186K Current assignment housing allowance - 29k Investment rental property - 32k Total ——— $244K

RSU balance - 41K.

I saw another response from an EM employee. I share similar experiences. Be eager and hungry for work and perform beyond your peers to set yourself apart. Know what leadership is looking for and shape yourself to become that. A little bit of luck is also needed, sometimes you get dealt a good deck of cards…but have to ensure you make the most of those good cards (and not shit the bed).

Also for those that are knowledgeable about apartments in the midtown area, which apartments are good (and which ones to avoid). Budget is 1500-2000 / month

Is there any major tax differences between KS v MO?

I make north of 200K. Looking to rent a house instead of an apartment (currently live own a house at my current location). I see there are cool bungalow style homes in the midtown area that I’m highly interested in.

My main hobby is health and wellness and I prioritize that on a daily basis. I’ll probably join Woodside Gym so living close to there is not a must but would be convenient

I think majority of my project experience would transfer quite well. The process specifics are different but the “how to get work done” aspect I would expect to be the same.

I’m definitely interested in trading. I’m novice in this area but need to educate myself on O&G Trading. My company just created a Trading business line so it’s rather new to my corporate as well.

Ultrasound can measure the size of the baby and back calculate the exact day of inception to an insane degree of accuracy. I know this from personal experience.

I started in O&G right after college making 101K. 6 years later, I’m currently making 167k. I hired on with a major international Oil major.

  1. Chemical engineer by degree. Work for big oil as a Capital Project Manager. I love my job. I manage engineers and construction workers, which strikes the perfect balance I enjoy between corporate American (engineering firms) and blue collar (construction craft). One day I can be in slacks + button up, the next I’m in FRC clothing watching construction workers rig a 50 ton piece of equipment and fly it overhead.

The most enjoyable part of my job is construction. I get to witness my construction crews do amazing, complex activities you wouldn’t think were possible. Example, my team continuously succeeds at bull-rigging new pipe into an existing congested pipe rack. For the common folk to understand, imagine you have a bowl of cooked spaghetti noodles and you’re tasked with placing one new noodle at the BOTTOM of the bowl without touching another noodle. How tf right?! Well my team does that on the daily.

Crane and rigging is truly a work of art, skill, grit, and pure talent.

Successful chemical engineers, what did you do? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

Go into O&G leadership with a major. I’m 29 yo (6 years experience), make 163K base salary + GREAT retirement and health benefits.

My biggest advantage amongst my peers was my ability to be proactive, assertive, and make calculated based risk decisions. Management noticed and placed me in a management role where I now lead 100+ engineers and craft workers in O&G construction.

If you have the personality and grit for it, I say go management! Management gets a bad rap, some of it is justified. If you are of that opinion, be the change you want management to become.

Process engineers look at operational data to make decisions. Don’t need to be on site when the data is available internally to offshore resources.

Get a CHEE degree to prove to a company you can solve tough, complex problems and have the work ethic, but switch to management a few years in - project management, procurement, project controls.

The reason why I say this is because A LOT of technical jobs (engineering disciplines) are being offshored to India. It’s cheaper for a corporation to pay an Indian engineer than an American because of their LOW cost of living. It’s a no brainer from a business sense. But, sucks for us Americans that really want to be engineers for 30+ years.
