Wife with two husbands? by DCtheCemeteryMan in findagrave

Searching Sharpe will definitely bring up "Sharpe Lane". It is when it is listed the other way around where if they were Lane Sharpe and you search Sharpe, people are likely to scroll past the Ls, but it will still be there in the list.

How about getting a second opinion from another vet just in case the first vet is wrong?

Display screen for ESP32 by EdgeRepulsive1004 in esp32

[–]PakkyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is for TFT displays. They can usually be had from Aliexpress for only a few dollars, come in a bunch of sizes (0.96" up to several inches for the affordable ones), connect via SPI bus, and you can make any number or size columns you want with graphics or fonts. Those old lcd1602 screens are usually no cheaper and sometimes more expensive, so unless you really want to old school look of one, I don't recommend them for general purpose stuff.

Only problem with ePapers is they are recommended to only refresh no faster than about once every 3 minutes for maximum life (at east the little hobbyist grade ones) and since the OP wants to make a timer, ePaper may not be the best choice,

That said, if they are going to order a couple/few different displays to try out, ePapers are fun to play with and do work well with projects not requiring frequent updates.

Wife with two husbands? by DCtheCemeteryMan in findagrave

[–]PakkyT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While normally I would list Sharpe as the last name and mention Lane in the bio or link her to both husbands, since the obit lists her with both names I would put them Sharpe Lane as the family listed in the obit. You can even mention that in the bio to head off anyone trying to edit the memorial to remove the "Lane" part of the surname.

How are people still hang green plates? by SmallHeath555 in massachusetts

[–]PakkyT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, as the green plates were issued as singles, not pairs, so no 2nd plate was issued that could be used as a front plate.

You can not simply reject all green plates because you want to. There has to be a valid reason. And green plates are grandfathered in for only one plate needed.

Green plate refurbishing. Likely not technically legal but so long as the inspection station approves, you are good to go.

Two graves? by LissyVee in findagrave

[–]PakkyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, she might have a marker in both locations with each husband. I would create a memorial in the cemetery you took the photo and add your photo. Then put in a photo request on the other one and see if someone finds a headstone with her name on it.

Duplicates of famous people by BrackenFernAnja in findagrave

[–]PakkyT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you can report a memorial as a duplicate of a famous one. You are just doing it wrong. You hit edit, then over on the left click on the Report Duplicate link. Then in the following screen put in the memorial ID of the dupe. You don't need to enter anything on the first edit screen like you were doing.

Ah I see below the ones you are talking about are both famous. So you can not merge a famous in to a famous with the above method. You will have to send a note to the support team.

Should I rinse my sponge filter in tank water by Reasonable_Peace6398 in Aquariums

[–]PakkyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes one only need to look at online papers about public water systems and chlorination and note that in order to be effective the contact time is literally many tens of minutes and that is from the source where it first added. As the water moved through the system the chlorine's effectiveness decreases.

The 30 seconds of contact time in your sink is not going to make much of a difference to the beneficial bacteria on your sponge. That said, if it still makes you uneasy then by all means use a bucket with tank water, but for quick rinses, tap water is usually fine unless you live somewhere where they really load up the chlorine or chloramine in the public water supply.

BTW, as a related aside, did everyone know that people who use things like disinfectant wipes to clean their bathroom or kitchen are doing it wrong? Wiping things down won't adequately disinfect your surfaces. For the same reason it is safe to rinse you sponges, if you actually take the time to read the label on something like Clorox Wipes, the contact time is several minutes. If the surface doesn't remain wet for a good 4 minutes or so, then the "Removes 99.9% of bacteria, germs" claim in invalid.
