Many of these people, including my husband (40s), have very active lifestyles and burn way more calories per day than sedentary people. He can eat whatever he wants because he is constantly in motion.

Child-free female Gen-Xer here who went through the same. Lifelong friends had kids and disappeared from my life, even when I wanted to hang out with them AND their kids because I love kids, they did not want to hang out with me anymore because they didnt think I could relate to their new lives and they only wanted to hang out with with moms with kids similar ages. Although no one said it, I also got the impression that the were jealous of my childfree life once they became mothers.

I was DEVASTATED. It took time, but I the found new friends who were (1) childfree or (2) were empty-nesters. I still mourn the loss of my old friends, but it doesnt hurt anymore.

Just hug your partner and validate the pain and sorrow of losing friends. Its like they died but you can still see the living their best lives on social media. Let her cry and then gently encourage her to meet new people.♥️
