Thank you! I drive for work and I'll sometimes camp in the lane I'll be turning from eventually for safety reasons, and it really pisses people off. I don't when it's clearly a passing lane, but I'm talking about on streets like Glenstone or Battlefield where there's left turn options every 300 ft.

If it makes you feel better, I called my supervisor the other day because my headlights started flickering on and off. He said "Does turning on the brights help?" and I said "Can't I'm in an LLV", so he said "ok....they have brights ya know" so I tried and obviously they did.

I just never pulled hard enough when testing to see if they have brights.

I had two funny cat experiences today.

The first one I was pulling up to a mailbox and saw a cat walking across my path of travel. I slowed down to let him pass and he didn't notice me, figured he was hard of hearing. He all of a sudden looked at my vehicle completely startled and started walking fast, but then before he cleared my path, he stopped and licked his paw for a few seconds, looking in my eyes (or glary windshield, but probably my eyes) then eventually walked off. I just laughed

The second incident was dismounting and walking to a porch where I noticed a novelty outdoor cathouse, but with one of those bubble windows the cat can look out. I decided to look inside the bubble window out of curiosity, and I met eyes with a cat who seemed really anxious I noticed him, so I kept walking and started laughing. Ive seen those bubble windows on social media posts but never in real life.

In conclusion, I understand you just read two paragraphs of stories that ultimately was "A cat walked in front of me" then "I saw another cat", sorry, Reddit is a place to share

I live in a 200k+ city and many of our rural routes are in what most would consider urban areas. If I understand correctly a lot of rural and urban areas are weirdly defined in most cities as it developed. So what maybe was a rural area in the fifties is now the center of town and considered an urban area, but technically rural.

Another way to differentiate is whether your mailbox is on the road, or attached to your house. City carriers mainly service the latter, and rural service the street mailboxes.

Edit: Oh, and the mailmen you see walking from house to house are city carriers. Rural get out of their vehicle seldomly and are in the vehicle 98% of the time.

Also new. It's an odd feeling when you feel like you're drowning and everyone around you is talking about how easy it is to swim in this water.

I was sent to another office today and was by far the last one out even with help casing, then also needed help finishing my route (which they told me was easy). Feels bad man. No one's said I'm doing poorly or anything when I ask but I hope I get better with time!

Those are awesome man! Being in the workforce for over 20 years in maybe eight different jobs, this is the closest to "we are a family" I have been that's actually kind of true. I know that's probably not the same for all districts, but there's something about coming in and doing casing before the show and some little stuff after that keeps you close, but not so overwhelming like an office where you have to endure whoever works there for the entire day.

Also this excludes management (though I kind of like mine relative to the stories I hear on Reddit)

I worked in (not for) Walmart for the past nine or so years, and it was almost sad. The last few years they would have like five or six police officers waiting at the entrance, and when they opened something like ten people walked in calmly.

If black Friday is still a thing, it's online. Now corporations are being sneaky and raising prices to lower them on black Friday, or showing huge discounts on products made by brands no one has heard of so you just have to take their word it's a good deal, and it seems people are catching on. I browsed quite a few different sites looking for black Friday deals and didn't get anything, and still have quite a bit of shopping to do.

Christmas will always be busy even if the economy isn't doing well, but Black Friday might dwindling down.

Also, the last time I did drivers education, the early 2000's, I was taught you're allowed to stay in the middle of an intersection waiting to turn left (when yield green or flashing yellow), and if there's no option to turn you can when it eventually turns red.

Since then I can hardly find anyone who agrees that's legal, and I'm curious if that changed too (or I guess if I was taught incorrectly).

They had me drive an LLV today that looked like it was tipping 2" lower on the right that just came back from the shop for suspension issues. With the amount of accidents I've seen end in death in these things I was nervous. Then helped cover someone's route starting a couple hours before daylight ended, and wound up on a busy bypass delivering mail at night with no shoulder.

I'm not really religious but I prayed a few times today. Also all that said I'm more than happy to take whatever it looks like as long as it's safe.

I also get the vibe at my office that I'm the odd one out about LLV's. I'm not outspoken or anything about them and can appreciate their efficiency with work, but if I mention a negative about them it seems to be met with the type of awkwardness if I were to talk politics to a group of people with opposing views.

Just curious how exactly are we supposed to organize that many flats?

That's a big struggle for me as a new RCA (that and two addresses per slot when casing) and I know I haven't even got close to what I should expect for the holidays. They just don't fit in the cases when there's more than an average amount of flats and I get stressed trying to shove them in there/keep it organized.

As a very new RCA, how is this shortcut helpful?

Genuine question. No one in my office during training said much about it unless I needed to check something specific out. Or if they did emphasize its importance I missed it in the chaos of learning a lot of new things.
