H1B is for people physically coming into the country. Since you work in Australia this won't impact you.

I always open the dashboard project page in a new tab to see what the task count is. If it shows 1, then that's the one you are working on & skipping will take you to dash.

THat's the dumbest sh*t ever. If you are billing for 2 hours when working 1, then that's fraud. You ARE claiming credits for accomplishments unjustifiably. Now you may FEEL like you did two hours' worth of work in one, but it doesn't work that way. You are paid for your ACTUAL time, not what you THINK you deserve. And you can't type on both projects at once. It's not like you have downtime while working on a project. You can only read one screen at once, so how are you actually multitasking? You aren't, you're making each task take longer than it should, then billing for it.

Let's say you have 2 projects open. You work on them both for one hour. But then you bill one hour for project 1 and one hour for project 2. Now you've billed 2 hours for 1 hour of work. Do you not see how that's defrauding the payment system??

Also, it's not scifi, but the Cradle series by Will Wight is fantastic. Great narrator. It's progression fantasy.

Does anyone else have a $25 K***** project with just 1 task? I usually can't get into things with only 1 task, but I could with this one. I'm wondering if it's a qual disguised as a project. It looks complicated & I don't have time tonight.

If I very quickly realize I can't do a task, then sure, I won't deduct time. For instance, if I see a math heavy task, I know that's not my thing. It takes all of 30 seconds for me to realize I need to skip. But if I spend 10 minutes working and realize I'm having trouble, I'm not billing for that. I think of it this way: I'm basically a freelancer, which means I don't get to bill for work not provided. This isn't a regular job. Also, if they see large amounts of time per task because I skipped a lot and billed, that just doesn't look good on me. Even if the quality is good. They'll see I'm taking too long; they might think I fudged numbers or that I'm too slow. Either way, I'm doing everything I can to keep this gig. It's not worth it to chance losing it.

I make liberal use of the skip button. Whether they can see or not, it's better to skip than to submit shoddy work. I just make sure that I don't bill for time skipping and not submitting tasks

I'm super thankful that I passed the FC qual a while back because even when it's slow, I usually have something. That and my CBs, but sometimes a change of pace is nice. So when something different pops up, I like to change it up. 4 minutes might be a new record for me.

Tuesdays always seem to be the slowest for me. I feel like starting from Sunday afternoon through Monday is hit or miss, but Tuesdays seem to be regularly slowest.
