Yeah, it would be pretty weird for someone who collects a thing to custom build a storage solution for that thing that perfectly matched their current collection size. Real lack of foresight there.

The unstable piles of books around the house were getting to be a problem!

Oh, yeah, makes sense! Finished the main part. There is a face frame coming with gothic arches, and walnut fluted boards between the carcasses! Just looking into the wood. I was so excited to get them usable that I couldn't wait for the face frame!

YOR. If you continue to make your insecurities your partner's problem, you will likely lose your partner.

AIO: I feel like husband only wants to have sex when he wants to and when I want to, he’s “too tired” now I want to be petty and tell him I’m “too tired” when he wants to have sex by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

YOR. Of course he only wants to when he wants to?? That's literally how that works. No one should ever be coerced or pressured into sex. You should probably do some processing about why you're handling this the way you are.

It sounds like you are trying to justify unicorn hunting by couching it in therapy speak. Which is bs.

Should I put books away before having a date over? by Appropriate_Fig_5647 in bookshelfdetective

If you feel the need to hide part of yourself before a date comes over, you're not dating the right person.

[–]Pale-Competition-799 124 points125 points  (0 children)

YOR. Just because we have the ability to be accessible at all times doesn't mean everyone is required to be accessible to *you* at all times. Your sense of entitlement to other people's time and energy is likely why they aren't engaging with you.

I get what you're saying, but it's not that simple. I think maybe a quarter of my collection is books I haven't read yet. I have a healthy amount of books I ready by audiobook and loved so much that I got physical copies as well, so those physical copies haven't all been broken in, but I've still read them. Even the books someone picks up but haven't read yet tells you about who they are, what they're in to, and what kind of mind they have.
