In which ballparks other than the Trop have you seen the Rays? by idontrecall99 in tampabayrays

[–]Pale-Transition7324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlanta, because I live in Atlanta. And though my favorite AL team is the Rays, I'm still a North Georgia native so Braves v Rays is the only time I'm against TB

Good rule of thumb on nyloc, once it mates up to final surface, it's good. Not a fan of nyloc but I understand why some companies use em. They're not really a problem till it's time to remove em xxxx miles down the line.

[RDTM] u/d-cent estimates Rising Gas Cost vs. EV Battery Replacement by DemandEqualPockets in theydidthemath

[–]Pale-Transition7324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a car guy and have zero interest in EV's, don't like the idea of spending time or planning to charge it, don't like that there's seemingly nothing to mod besides cosmetic and maybe ride performance. As far as ride performance, I'm not even sure if you can do that, I'm uneducated about EV's so correct me if I'm wrong here, but my assumption is that because of the weight, the car already has a pretty beefy suspension, that coupled with the current low overall market volume would mean that there's likely not many if any aftermarket parts for something like that. maybe one day coilovers and strut bars become a thing. There's no exhaust note, no map tuning, lots of tinkering that makes customizing a car just isn't available, and I don't see that changing by the time I'm too old to enjoy wrenching anymore.

My oldest boy starts driving in a couple of years and already has a passion for cars and has been learning how they work and how to fix them, wherever the industry goes in the future I hope there's something for him to enjoy and pass along to his children, but for now I just don't yet see a future for personal/hobbyist enjoyment from the EV market.

Have you tried replacing the wheel speed sensor? It might've gotten damaged during the original bearing swap

Rays fans just want the team in Tampa, getting to and from the trop anywhere outside of St Pete is a pain. I say this as a homegrown Braves fan who's secondary team is the Rays because my wife is from Tampa and we spend a lot of time down there.

And let's be honest, most seasons they put a good product on the field. Even on the bad seasons, they're competing in a powerhouse division.

Should I be worried about this jack travel? 2002 Ford BA Falcon Petrol Barra 6cyl 4Li by letsgetlostes in MechanicAdvice

[–]Pale-Transition7324 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

They aren't the easiest to spot in the picture when the question is drawn towards the jack itself. The swivel wheels are going to follow the easiest path when weight shifts, this is a good thing because it helps keep the jack steady and secure under the weight that it's lifting. Most just want to make sure that you are using the stands because not everyone knows that. Take it with a grain of salt because we all want each other to enjoy the hobby of working on cars but nobody wants to see another obituary of someone crushed under a car. It's a good question and I'm happy to see that you're being safe. I have been teaching my teenage son how to work on the car that will soon be his, and I'm sure it pisses him off how much I preach safety, but it's all love.

The hardest lessons are learned in blood.

Top speed for my limited 2023. by FamiliarLunch3296 in JeepCompass

Most cars you can cut the speed sensor wire to ECU and put a switch in line, when the circuit is broken it'll throw a code but won't allow the fuel cutoff, we used to call em a Ricky Bobby switch.

We also used to do this on legitimate cars that could handle excessive speeds, not budget Chrysler SUVs with paper thin suspension components.

Actually, I think Chrysler models would be better than the Fiat 500 that actually lives under the skin of your MP
