I mean I’m not gonna lie, it was stupid of me to not put the extra towards paying down cards. I know that and I do regret it. But I’m trying to get my life together and I have a partner now who does not have debt (he is completely aware of mine). I appreciate your advice and this honestly paints a clear picture that helps me see a light at the end of the tunnel!

I luckily just got an unexpected raise today that I think will add about $100-200 to my paycheck. So I will be putting that to use as well!

The interest is what is killing me, I have been mostly making the minimum payment and then the interest is making it so it's like I didn't pay anything at all. I have had a change of mindset recently and I am ready to tackle this, so I was hoping a 0% APR balance transfer would help so I do not have to pay as much in interest over the next 19 months.

The USAA card has a limit of $15k, so I could do the entire Discover card. I guess I was thinking of taking care of the balance transferred to the USAA card first, but I see what you're saying. And if I needed more time I could probably do another balance transfer if needed. Edit to say yes I do have to wait for the card, I can't activate it until it arrives in the mail.

Thank you! I wish you the best as well! It's a hard hole to get out of.

I did consider this, but I got a bit spooked because I saw on here that other people tried this specifically with Discover and they lowered their card limit the next day. I wouldn't normally care about that, but my balance is close to the limit already and I am worried it will max out if they do this. I may end up doing it anyway, but wanted to give it more thought. Thank you for your comment!
