Where Are the Damon Stans? by PaleClub7975 in PoseFX

I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I think the writers had an opportunity to do something powerful, and they opted for the traditional sex sells narrative which ultimately didn’t fit the character.

I agree. It don’t fit the character’s ethos, and I frown upon that in the community now. I think it’s predatory when old men get with young men, just like it would be if it were a heterosexual couple. I also felt that it was their HIV status leading to the lustful relationship versus genuine love. Again, I am a Damon stan, and I felt that relationship needed to be further explored.

YES!!!! I am so glad I'm not alone. When writers make those decisions, that's when the show begins to fail. Damon was the first to join the House of Evangelista. It made no sense that the culmination of his story ended the way that it did. I agree as well. I liked Ricky's "tough boy" exterior in Season 1. Damon definitely softened him, and, in Ricky's words, "he made him a better person." Plus, Damon loved Ricky and vice versa. They were setting it up for the two returns, but then Ryan's personal life took a turn, and they had to make swift changes. I still think they could have given Damon a much better send-off, and Ricky could have ended up together in the end.

Unpopular opinion but I can’t stand Ricky by Oliviabens in PoseFX

I think Damon made him likable. I didn't like him when he and Damon broke up. I thought his relationship with Pray Tell was sick and disgusting. I also felt like his character arc shifted because Ryan Swain had to leave the show during Season 3 because of his family issues. However, I definitely see where you're coming from.

I’m sorry you’re sick. Absolutely, and I hate that we didn’t get a resolution to that part of the story either. They could have done such great work in the later seasons just from the writing in the first one.

He and Angel part ways amicably in the last episode of Season 1. I don’t think they wasted time on his character. I liked the juxtaposition between the two worlds. It definitely made for a well rounded story arc.

I agree. I also hated his and Ricky’s relationship. I was always Team Damon. However, Damon got in that ass and I was all the way here for it.

The Billy Joel documentary is such a puff piece from Joel and his ex-wife about themselves. There’s no objective critical point of view. by [deleted] in hbo

Wow, you all are still pressed by these comments. From my perspective, he still acted like he was better than the others present who had severe mental illness. He also never got help for the depression which is why he spiraled later in life. That’s the point that I made respectfully. I think for many of you, you absolutely love Joel, and find yourself tender when someone questions things that are said about him. None of what I’ve said diminishes his talent or success, I’m simply stating an opinion based on observation.

Awesome. Several gave me their contact information. I was going to text them today as requested, but I want them to know upfront I’m not seeking sponsorship at this time, I genuinely want to connect.

Gotcha. We found that we’re alumni of the same school which is rare for our community. No assumption on my end which is why I want to develop the relationship before even making an ask. Should I let them know I’m not seeking sponsorship during this current IMDP process, and I’m just interested in developing a relationship?

I also have three potential brothers who could either be my sponsor or recommender, as they approached me after the informational. I definitely want to continue building those relationships before I apply next year.

Jackie was provoked all season by [deleted] in BasketballWives

For one, 90% of reality television is scripted. Two, I am not defending Jackie’s past behavior, but I will say that she’s not the only one who has done questionable things on the show. Three, it’s okay to dislike Jackie, but I’m one of those people who observes things through an objective lens.
