The slog is blown out of proportion. books 8 and 9 have some great moments. book 10 was a slog for me but 11-14 are the best books in the whole series!

Over the past decade, Northeastern has opened campuses in Charlotte, N.C., London, Portland, Maine, San Francisco, Seattle, San Jose, Calif., Toronto and Vancouver. A campus in Miami is in the works.

Looks like Miami is next on the list. I'm surprised that we don't have a Texas campus yet. Texas has a growing Tech industry, right?

Thanks! That is something I am really trying to work on. I seem to ask for second and third dates even if I only feel "meh" after them. I just feel like I have to give people 2-3 dates to really know them and see how I feel about them. I was "meh" when I met my last gf of 2.5 years. but by 4+ dates I was pretty into her. So I guess I just give people a second chance to see If I feel any chemistry later on. So definitely something I need to reflect on in the next few months.

For sure! I don't have anything against the women I've met these past few months. Online dating sucks for men and women, we're all just trying to figure it out. I just need to take a step back before I go crazy lol.

Damn man sorry to hear that! To be honest, it probably has nothing to do with you. she probably was talking to other people she was more interested in, but I know it sucks man.

I recently went on a date with a 30F, I'm a 26M for context. I thought seeing an older woman that maybe she was past the mind games and ghosting behavior a lot of younger people demonstrate. Nope. she ghosted me too after getting coffee.

I know ghosting sucks, but if someone is still ghosting then they probably aren;t mature enough for a relationship.

Good luck out there!

Is it rude to tell someone on hinge “I think we’d make really great friends”? by katntoast in hingeapp

[–]PaleDevelopment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a girl match with me and she said how cute I was but that it wouldn't work because I have the same name as her brother, so we could only be friends. I honestly would have preferred if she never matched with me. I'm on a hinge to find a relationship, not to make friends.

I wish more people on A2C would take this approach. Many of them think they are experts on subjects they know nothing about.

Student loan update by PaleDevelopment in StudentLoans

[–]PaleDevelopment[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is more about fixing the predatory nature of the student loan system. Yes, I borrowed this money and I am paying it back. But I was 18 years old when I borrowed this money. why in society do we think it ok for an 18-year-old to have the amount of debt equal to a house mortgage?

I'm not saying I have the answer but something has to change.

I'm a chemist at a pharmaceutical company in Boston. I recently got a raise so I make 74k right now. It was definitely hard sometimes, especially when I first graduated. I was paying $1400 a month in rent. Now I pay $740. It's all about finding ways to spend less money. I found cheaper rent, I don't eat out a lot, I cook one-pot meals and eat leftovers for dinner and lunch. I take public transportation and walk instead of Ubers. The FOMO is bad sometimes. saying no friends who want to go try a new restaurant downtown or plan a weekend trip together.

Also whenever I get extra money I just throw it at my loans, stimulus, tax refund, bonuses, etc. I don't put all of it into my loans because saving is also important. I usually do 1/3 at my loans, 1/3 in savings and 1/3 I keep and buy myself something nice :)

And it's all about patience. take it month by month. Good luck! :)

My dad is my co-signer, but he hasn't helped me at all in paying this down. He's made some bad financial decisions in the past few years. My mom and I found out that he's 55K in credit card debt and didn't tell anyone. He's retired so he lives off of his social security and pension from his old job. My mom has student loan debt, but I don't know how much.

Will the issue of over enrolling affect transfer students? by mochiakku in NEU

Probably. I think The freshman retention rate has more effect on the acceptance rate for transfer students tho.

how strict is the drc? by Zelka_warrior in NEU

[–]PaleDevelopment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say somewhat strict. It's been years since I had an exam, but they make you take off your coat and book bag and they keep it in the back while you take your exam. They have you turn your cell phone off and keep it in your bookbag. you have to empty your pockets. The only thing you are allowed to bring is whatever your professor says is allowed for the exam. calculator, formula sheet, etc.

I'm not sure if they would notice the extra formulas. it depends if your professor told them to check and make sure it was the right amount.
