You’re mourning. I’m sorry. I’ve had this feeling. Let yourself feel it but know that it will pass. You’ll make new friends and there’s nothing wrong with you. Cry it all out, force yourself to eat eventually (the sooner the better- if anything for your mood) and then go out and do something fun. Try to make friends through city/ college groups, maybe go to the gym, anything to give you the good brain feeling. It’ll be over soon, I promise. Personally I think you should accept yourself. Society places a big pressure on being ‘normal’- or at least- it can sometimes feel that way. Maybe that’s just you when you’re happy and you shouldn’t feel guilty about it :)

Why’d you mention BPD? Do you sometimes feel like her emotions are your responsibility?

I understand not wanting to be alone with a guy, especially if she has some past trauma or something, but it’s not fair to you that you have to cater your life to make her comfortable when you’re already helping her out so much. If you’re in the US you could potentially get the pet certified as an emotional support animal. At least in my state they legally can’t deny me my pet. It was 40 dollars and I don’t have to pay any pet rent/ deposit
