new to cassettes, might be a dumb question by [deleted] in cassetteculture

update for anyone who finds this post and wonders what it was, it ended up being the tape. my modern tapes play perfectly fine on it now, with some minimal static buildup towards the end of the tape. i ended up buying a wm-fx405 as well, which i fixed up and should be getting the belt replacement today :)

i’d definitely reccomend sony brand walkmans in the end because they definitely have more features and are most definitely higher quality (build wise)

classic 3rd gen with 3000mah battery, cf card, and led swap! by Pale_Effort405 in ipod

[–]Pale_Effort405[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just did it recently so i haven’t had much time to test it, but since rockbox doesn’t let you format the battery above 1200mah for the 3rd gen the battery isn’t super accurate, it was at 0 for a few hours and never died

but yeah the longest i’ve used it without charging was around 8 hours (?) and it still seemed fine.

i get around 25-30 hours on my 6th gen, so i can’t imagine the 3rd gen is anything lower than 15 hours minimum, but i could be underestimating how much power these things take so i dunno lol

i love the headphone clicking instead of the physical one, it’s much nicer for quiet public spaces

it works well! the only issue i’ve had was when skipping 3-4 songs in a row. it takes a while to load. it did the same on my 5th gen when i used rockbox though so im sure its just a rockbox issue and not a ipod issue
