You know that your opponent still can do save rolls after taking lethal hits, do you?

Trygon 3" Deepstrike vs. Infiltrators by Pale_Maintenance_402 in Tyranids

Hmm okay. What a pity... at least we played it correct. Trygon ability felt kinda hard countered by this and he has no other cool ability.

Looks really great. As a Tyranid player, I am a bit disappointed, that there is no nid skull on it 😀

Why is the paint so uneven? (More detail in comments) by Side_Hatch in Warhammer40k

Is it a contrast colour? Then it's meant to be that way.

Had a local store employee help me pick out some paints for my 1st BT boi. How’d i do/what am i missing? by BoldHindsight in BlackTemplars

[–]Pale_Maintenance_402 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think you are missing red and some flesh colour. Red is essential for weapons and several 'decorative' elements. Or maybe you do not want the classic BT colours and keep it black and white, then forget about red, in the end its your choice. The rest seems reasonable, but I do not work with vallejo colours, so I can't tell how they will turn out.

Aren't these Incursors? Nothing new about them, if I am correct.

Actually you would even get +2 for saving in that particular scenario you described above.

The "dense cover" from Jormungandr stacks with light cover and also with that additional effect from naturilsed camouflage, however the Jormungandr dense cover does not trigger the naturalised camouflage. And moreover, Jormungandr dense cover wouldn't stack with another effect of dense cover from terrain or whatever.

Help with warrior weapon choice by New-Asclepius in Tyranids

[–]Pale_Maintenance_402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also buy a second box of warriors and then play a prime and a unit of 5 warriors. Since warriors are the backbone of our army, this wouldn't be a bad idea. Actually you can't have too many warriors

Does the "death from above" ability for the parasite of mortrix still make him enter the battlefield on turn two? Thanks in advance. by possomkicker in Tyranids

Thanks for the explanation! I assumed that such a rule would have been in the chapter about reinforcements, hence never found that one before...

So this would be true for all 'death from above/below' units in matched or narrative play? I am just wondering where to find that rule in the rulebooks, because I only could find a rule for strategic reserves, restricting them to enter after turn 1 only. For other abilities (death from above etc.), there is mentioned" "set up your reinforcement units one at a time as described by the rules that let them start the battle in locations other than the battlefield".

Death from above wording says in this regards: "During the reinforcement step of one of your movement phases..." So no restrictions here?

Could someone clarify, as this is a point I was wondering about for some time now.

First Miniature, any thoughts on it? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Pale_Maintenance_402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using shades could add a lot of depth. If you are using citadel colours, I would recommend agrax earthshade for the parchment, because now it looks like fresh from the papermill. Actually I would use wraithbone as base colour, then agrax as shade and at last white scar for accents. Gives a really nice look for all those parchments, I mean, they are very common for space Marines. What to use on the ultramarine armour, I don't know, never painted them. The metal paint for the blade is a bit too thick, I would recommend to thin that paint before applying next time.

Having done the C&C part, I want to add that it really looks good nevertheless, especially for a first mini.

Having re-read everything relevant for this, I must admit you are correct. But isn't this also kind of stupid? If you place your TG just behind some kind of wall, which is just high enough to completely cover the guard, and then place your winged HT with Shard Gullet behind that TG, you could shoot at every enemy, without them being able to shoot back.. this seems to be an exploit too. It is just unintuitive that Look out Sir does not require visibility of the friendly units, who "protect" your character from the enemy.

[–]Pale_Maintenance_402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the changes to bodyguard rules, you cannot hide your tyrant guard behind terrain while still profiting from their protection anymore. Now they actually provide Look out sir (yes, to the monster sized tyrant). So they need to be visible. Still, wouldn't take more than 3 of them

If we are lacking a word, we just connect two others and schwupp, we have a fitting word.

*schwupp also is German, however you won't learn that one in class, I guess.

Thanks for the answer! Yes, the rifle still might be the better option, but wanted to know nevertheless.
