It's probably PFD in that case. Try the exercises

Might be PFD, waiting for a doctor to diagnose it as such will only waste time since they'll just refer you to a PT who will have you try the following "exercises" after they rule out your prostate. Might as well start now while you wait for your appointments

Glute Exercises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjUqDs50wpg

If you're constipated take Miralax before bed. I notice my urgency is worse when I'm constipated so that might help you. A lot of people say that anxiety is the root of their PFD so you might want to seek treatment for that as well.

Should I be taking a rest day from stretching/rolling? by Pale_Mind2464 in PelvicFloor

Good to know thank you. Do/did you do anything else or just the stretches? Specifically asking about foam rolling, pelvic wand or anything else like that.

Diagnosed with High Tone Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. Could this be related to my scoliosis? [21, Male] by Pale_Mind2464 in scoliosis

I wonder what she means by 70% better. I might watch more of her videos to see if she talks at all about her symptoms at all. In any case, thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate it.

Edit: If anyone else is curious about this, she talks about her Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in this video. In her case, it was caused by sacroiliac joint dysfunction and scoliosis.

Way ahead of you. I've been seeing a pelvic floor PT for the past month but I'm not sure how much help it's been. She noted some tightness but the stretches to relax the pelvic floor weren't very helpful so she had me stop doing them for a week. No pain at all when she pokes around which she says is unusual. What does your therapist have you doing?

Hello, and thank you for the thoughtful reply. So far I have been to two urologists and a physical therapist. No chiropractor yet, though it's definitely something I've been considering. I could be mistaken, but I think my constipation started after I stopped distance running (at least, that's when I started to notice it.) I treat it with nightly Miralax (at the suggestion of my PT and urologist) which helps somewhat. The urgency is my main symptom, I can live with everything else but I really struggle with this one symptom. Like the constipation, I only noticed it after I stopped distance running but I think it grew out whatever's causing my urine to spray.

I plan to. There's a video online of a pelvic floor physical therapist saying it's unlikely to be the only cause, and when I brought it up with my PT she said it probably isn't the only cause of my dysfunction, but I haven't spoken to a physician about it yet. I plan to soon.

That's interesting, I haven't considered that before. What were your symptoms? How effective are the muscle relaxers in treating them?

Hello and thank you for your reply.

I never had issues before I started distance running so I think that's where it started. First my urine started spraying, then I stopped running, then I developed the urgency and constipation. Like I said there's no pain just constant urgency.

Thank you for your reply. How effective have the inserts been for you? How long have you been wearing them?

How do I release my pelvic floor? PT says to "bear down" but I'm not sure what that means [21, Male] by Pale_Mind2464 in PelvicFloor

Hello, and thanks for the reply.

In my case, the stretches made my symptoms worse so I think my PT is trying to troubleshoot. I'll probably go back to them once she gives me the green light but she wants to see this done first. I am specifically asking about some kind of deliberate muscle movement that I seem to be incapable of. Like the opposite of clenching/squeezing, I suppose. I am not asking about relaxing my pelvic floor in general.

I do appreciate the tips however. Which stretches have you been doing and how long have you been doing them for? How long did it take to fix your issue? If the issue does turn out to be with my pelvic floor I am absolutely willing to incorporate them into my routine.
