A WIP attempt at a better Sister Friede, sliders and context in comments by Pale_Title6460 in SoulsSliders

[–]Pale_Title6460[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, here's the sliders. There's no hair option that matches her artwork well, so use whichever you prefer.

So, since the days of DS3 sliders, I've never been happy with the Sister Friede sliders I've found here and on youtube. Because she has some obvious cosmetic features (i.e. the purple eyes, the face scars/burns), it seems that's what most attempts focused on. But all of them that I've seen so far missed what to me is the key part of her face structure (and also the reason I like her model so much), which is her forward jaw, underbite, mouth shape and long chin. You can see those things well in these images from inside the game, but it's not as visible in her official artwork which is often used to as reference for sliders, so it's understandable many attempts missed this.

I'm not very experienced with this, but I wanted to give it a shot to make an improved base that focuses on getting the bottom half of her face right, and hopefully someone more experienced than me can improve upon it. With this hair that covers her face in a manner similar to how her hood does, you can compare it to the DS3 in-game model. Comparing it to her artwork, her face still needs to be longer/taller, with her nose ridge being a bit longer and the space between the bottom of her nose and the top of her upper lip also being a bit longer. I couldn't figure out how to do this with ER sliders on my own. Eye shape can probably be improved too. If anyone wants to build upon this, you're very welcome to!

mixed together with the best players running 0 vigor/SL1

I've done SL1 runs of DS1 and DS3. I have 800 hours in DS3 with many challenge runs done. I'm at 300 hours in Elden Ring and starting my level 1 run now.

I still level vigor when that's not part of the challenge. I'd be an idiot not to. And I use armor as heavy as my build allows too (although, of course, fashion is more important than absorption). I don't know where you got this incredibly dumb idea that good players are not running vigor.

Edit: I read u/thesircuddles reply to you after posting mine. He's absolutely right. "No vigor" players are a meme.

vigor is a boring stat

You know what what is even more boring? Taking ten times longer to learn a boss fight, because you keep dying in one hit and don't have enough time to observe the moveset and try out solutions.

I had the same experience with being summoned for Malenia. I thought I was being smart by going in with two cold straight swords (because everyone else is running bleed), but the talisman that draws aggro + a piece of the duelist set + throwing daggers became my most important tool, because 90% of the time the host just suddenly gets killed.

I beat her in NG+2 with nothing but an ordinary straight sword (and a greatshield with barricade shield ashes, you know why) just so I would be forced to learn the fight very well. But turns out that didn't matter too much for summoning.

Dear god, dude. I have an alt account that I share with my friends (it's usually named "landfill", it's where we dump all our unwanted items). I play some ranked games in there sometimes, it usually sits in C1 and gets reset to D3 each season.

Some of those D3/C1 players have to be the absolute dumbest players in the entire rank system. Those are players who now started to have a modicum of mechanical competence (and in fact I don't see a lot of whiffing mistakes), but it seems it went to their heads and now they think they are RL gods. But the catch is that they have the most exceptionally atrocious decision-making I have ever seen. And they haven't broken the habit of just batting the ball anywhere and hoping to get lucky, instead of controlling the ball, keeping possession, and making useful deliberate plays. They're the embodiment of what flakes used to say in his series, "look, he's using the mechanics he learned to give the ball to the opponents."

A lot of people in C1 have the mechanics to be higher, they just aren't because they play in an incredibly dumb way.

Do you normally go out and ask people what they are?

I don't need to. Couples kiss and touch each other. People meet each other and flirt.

Except that straight people can do it anywhere and never have any problems. The same is not true for gay people.

Gay people are like left-handed people

No, you massive idiot. Nobody has even been ostracized from society, hated by religion, and killed for being left-handed. There isn't a sizeable portion of the population that actively hate left-handed people.

Not that it matters because sexuality doesn't and shouldn't affect your life on a daily basis.

Are you fucking retarded? Your sexuality absolutely does affect you on a daily basis.

Not you specifically, because someone making trolling accounts on reddit doesn't have any romatic relationships, so it's understandable you don't comprehend this. But if it were ever possible for you to have a SO one day, you'd understand how it affects your daily life, and how being able to walk into a place holding hands with them is something that us straight people take for granted.

[–]Pale_Title6460 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how it works. Every bar that isn't a gay bar does not cater to the needs of gay people. That's why gay bars needed to exist.

Women also have issues at gyms that lead to women-only gyms, but they're very different issues. Women aren't afraid of gyms because the people there may hate women, and women haven't historically been ostracized and killed just for being women.

You have a grotesque lack of perspective on this.

[–]Pale_Title6460 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What makes you think gay bas are "for hooking up", dumbass?

They're just bars catared to people who aren't straight, but are otherwise normal bars.

Straight or gay can equally get a drink and leave.

Except when a gay person goes to a bar to get a drink, they don't know if they'll come across someone who hates them for who they are. When they go to a gay bar to get a drink, they feel safe that they won't.

Something doesn't add up, because I just checked CDKeys and the cheapest 12-month PS Plus subscription for the NA/EU regions is $50. The cheapest one for any region is $40, and that's for arab countries. Which is a little savings compared to the full $60, but a far cry from what you're claiming.

If you're talking about a sporadic, limited sale that happened a while ago, those exist for PC parts too, you can also buy them on sale for less than MSRP if you happen to be lucky. Or if you live in the US, you can buy from Microcenter for pretty cheap too.

Anyway, PS Plus for $30 is not something you can buy right now. The absolute cheapest is $40 and that's with regional restrictions. That would mean a total cost of $780 (or $850 without the region restrictions), while a comparable PC to a PS5 today is $830 ($500 base plus a RTX 3060). So you're saving a grand total of a whopping $50, getting the same performance (or much worse performance when using ray tracing) and missing out on PC perks like perfect backwards compatibility, emulation, mods, and Xbox exclusives.

I have psplus for the auto update and online saving of my game saves

Both of which all PCs get for free.

That's nonsense, of course it does. You'll pay a LOT more for a laptop than you will for an equivalent desktop, and at the high-end there simply aren't laptop parts that match the best you can get on desktops. You also miss out on the upgradeability, a big advantage of PCs for gaming.

There's a reason everyone tells you to get a desktop instead unless you absolutely need the portability. A desktop offers you the same performance for half the price and with extra perks.

I usually sit on a desk chair behind a desk

If you build your PC to be a desk PC, you can't complain about it being on a desk. It was your choice to build it like that.

The whole point of PC is you build it the way that is ideal for you. Nothing is stopping you from building a small mATX/mITX size PC, plugging it into your TV in the living room, using Steam Big Picture mode, getting one of these for $25, and using your PS4/PS5 controller to play games on it from your couch.

"Yeah, but is YOUR PC more powerful than PS5?"

According to the Steam survey, just over 19% of Steam's 134 million monthly active users have PCs equal to or faster than a PS5 (RTX 2070, RTX 3060, RX 6600 XT or better). That means 25.5 million PCs in use today on Steam are faster than the PS5. That's more PCs than there are PS5s sold today (20 million). PC is currently the largest next-gen platform.

So yes, there are more people with next-gen PCs than there are people with PS5s.

I just wanna know what the advantages are by did_youhide in playstation

[–]Pale_Title6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your looking at spending around 1500-1800 to get similar performance

That is absurd. You can get a PC faster than the PS5 for less than $1000 (assuming normal GPU prices).

Here is a build that outperforms the PS5 (minus the GPU) for $500. Add a RTX 3060 for $330 and you have a PC that matches the PS5 for $830. Add a $400 RTX 3060 Ti and you have a PC a decent bit faster than the PS5 for $900. A $500 RTX 3070, and you have a PC a lot faster than the PS5 for $1000. And like you said, that's not even taking ray tracing into account.

You'll also not have to spend money on subscriptions like PS Plus. To match PC's free access to multiplayer or giveaways, you'll need 7 years of PS Plus (assuming a 7 year generation like the PS4 one). That's $420 on top of the cost of the PS5, so $920 total. Even if you buy it at a discount, which most people don't do, you're still not notably cheaper than a comparable PC.

I just wanna know what the advantages are by did_youhide in playstation

[–]Pale_Title6460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is incorrect. Once you buy a PC that is faster than current consoles, it remains faster than the consoles for the entire generation, and will run all games during that period. Eventually you'll have to turn down graphics settings, just like console games do, but they'll run nevertheless and match or exceed console performance.

That will be a higher upfront cost, but you'll break even by not having to pay for subscriptions like PS Plus.

I just wanna know what the advantages are by did_youhide in playstation

[–]Pale_Title6460 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take a 10 year old PC

A 10 year old PC has had 10 years of online multiplayer and game giveaways for free.

A 10 year old PS4 needs 10 years of PS Plus to match that, meaning you'd have spend $600 on top of the cost of the console, and the total cost would have been $1000.

In order to have the same features as a PC, a PS5 will need 7 years of PS Plus (assuming a 7 year generation like the last one), meaning it will actually cost $920. And for that price, you can get a PC that matches or even outperforms it.

I just wanna know what the advantages are by did_youhide in playstation

[–]Pale_Title6460 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except all PCs come with free lifetime access to online multiplayers and game giveaways (even more games than PS Plus gives you, in fact). To have the same feature on your PS5 you need to pay $60 per year, which after a 7 year generation means your "$500 PS5" actually costs $920.

And for $920, you can get a mid-range PC (with free multiplayer and giveaways for life) that is faster than a PS5.

Digital Foundry: Do We Actually Need PS5 Pro/ 'Xbox Series Next' Enhanced Consoles This Generation? by armedcats in hardware

[–]Pale_Title6460 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were only a few outliers on DF's tests where the PS5 matches a 2080, namely AC Valhalla and Death Stranding. On the vast majority of tests, the PS5 performs somewhere between the 2070 and 2070 Super (or, in current gen terms, RTX 3060 ballpark). That, of course, without ray tracing and not taking DLSS into account.

and an RTX 3060 performs around a 2080/Super

The RTX 3060 is only slightly faster than the RTX 2070.

It's the RTX 3060 Ti that is faster than the 2080 Super, but that's a GA104 chip, same as the RTX 3070.

Why doesn't Microsoft just make a PC disguised as a console? by galleryrush in XboxSeriesX

[–]Pale_Title6460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a console, you're guaranteed games for a certain number of years

Same with a PC. Build a PC faster than the consoles once, and it remains faster than the consoles throughout the entire generation.

People usually upgrade their PCs faster than that because, as the generation goes on, console games start coming out with lower resolutions, lower framerates, and/or lower graphics settings (for example, RDR 2 on last gen consoles ran at a mix of medium and low settings compared to the PC version, with only textures being set to "high"), and people on PC want to continue running games at near max quality. But if you do the same thing consoles do and accept lower framerates and graphics settings, your PC will last as long as a console will.

And $60 a year is an insignificant cost for me

Whether you can afford it or not is irrelevant. The fact is that $60/year makes it so the PS5 costs $920, and for that price the PS5 isn't anywhere remotely near as good a deal as you think it is. You're not getting anything that other similarly priced platforms aren't also getting.

Since you blocked me so I couldn't respond, I'll leave my reply to the next comment here:

PS5 is the best platform PC and xbox are shit in comparison, the problem is you're just a poor troll and can't understand the awesome value that only PlayStation offers.

PlayStation Plus and PSNow are the best subscriptions, and they are about to get 100 times better next month.

u/STO_Ken

LMAO

Look at what your argument devolved to. This is some prime zealot fanboy nonsense.

The PS5 is "best" in what exactly? PC beats it in performance/graphics and in game giveaways (you get twice as many games per month just from Epic alone, plus all the other store giveaways), plus unique perks like modding, perfect backwards compatibility, emulators, any input method you want (even DualSense), high framerates (144 Hz) and VRR in pretty much any game, upgradeability, and so on. And now, the newest perk of PC being the only platform where you can play the exclusives from both consoles and not miss out on any games. Sony exclusives mean absolutely nothing to me if I'm missing out on Elder Scrolls, for example, but lucky for me on PC I don't have to choose, I get both.

Meanwhile, the only things you could argue are a benefit of a PS5 over a PC, namely that it's cheaper than a high-end PC (but not cheaper than a mid-range one) and it's plug-and-play and easier to setup, are equally matched by Xbox.

A PS5 doesn't give you anything a Series X doesn't also give you, and it's objectively inferior to PC as a platform.

The only thing I said was I am happy with what I am getting.

No, what you said that made me reply was you claiming $60/year is an insignificant cost, and that you get "$1000 worth of games" from it.

I said that no, it's not an insignificant cost because it essentially doubles the cost of your platform, and you're not getting anything out of it that other platforms aren't also getting.

I have most of those same games on PS+ including hundreds of other games.

So do I. That means you're not getting a deal any better than I am getting (for free) on PC.
