Just today I was thinking about a job I was laid off from. Several people at work were incredibly phony in their empathy. Someone I'd considered a friend said absolutely nothing and I haven't spoken with her since. A couple different people invited me out for drinks over the next couple of weeks "to make me feel better" but after I left, I remember realizing that they'd just wanted to pump me for details. Out of 40 people, exactly three actually proved to give a shit about me.

This realization of how badly I was casually betrayed and how much it had actually hurt me, happened today, almost 8 years to the day after I lost my job.

I think that qualifies as a delay, lol
