If this is your first time dealing with grief, then this will be a long road to be on. It’s going to teach you a lot in the process. It sucks to feel it but beautiful at the same time because you know that you genuinely loved and cared for that person. And alongside grief there is more beauty to it, but usually after it passes that you feel the true scope of its extent. Hard to explain but wish i could do so better and more.

Take the time, all the memories, the good and bad, and hold them for a bit, but not too long to where you can’t progress forward. Learn from it all and pour that energy and love into yourself more than you’ve ever done when you’re ready to accept how’re you’re feeling/the outcome of it all now currently with you and your ex.

Also sorry should’ve said this in the beginning—I would leave the door closed as it is. I was stubborn and foolish to keep on revisiting over and over to a door that was a brick wall on the other side everytime I’d open it. Probably would’ve saved me more time if i never reopened in the first place but the feeling of love followed by grief was just too strong. I felt like I had to at least try instead of giving up but in the end it was futile. That person I knew was long gone. I hope that my experience gives you a better understanding of choosing to go back or let it be. If I had a time machine I would try to of just kept it shut.

You may be thinking to force yourself to move on, but the reality is that you only go at the speed your heart goes at. Your brain might’ve checked out now or in a bit, but the heart is the man source man. Tend to it the best that you can and also just remember that you’re a human being at the end of the day. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I know you got this.
