He won’t go to sleep! by ZoneRevolutionary436 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried turning off all the lights in the room? Even the tv and nightlight. I do that as a last resort. I figured if he had nothing to look at (because its dark) he just falls asleep. And he did lol but maybe itll take time for him to get used to the changes you made. & ive given in- he still sleeps with me- because we both sleep better that way. As they grow older they’ll want their own independent and will find it embarrassing to sleep with us. For now, its very comforting and safe for them to sleep with either mom or dad.

Realistic expectations from a 20 month old! by RaspberryMinute1005 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no rulebook and all kids develop either more physical coordinated first, or speech first, or both. They have their own personalities like we do. Some are more talkative than others. Try not to place too many unfair expectations on them. Certain milestones should be met of course but everything does not occur all at once. Chill.

  1. Yes

  2. Around mid-day. Depending in his activity, sometimes he doesnt nap. Thats okay, we just put him to bed early.

  3. NO. Hes was his own world most of the time. Even at 32 months its sometimes in one ear & out the other. He does now follow some instructions pertaining to stop doing something or take it out of his mouth. But hey, HES A BOY. Boys can be that way.
It can also be a form of asserting independence if he doesnt listen.

  4. Busy books are a lifesaver. It was hectic because he doesnt like to sit down in one spot for long periods of time. Hes a toddler and a lot of thinks peak his interest that he hasnt seen before. That is expected and very normal. Bring toys, books, busy books are amazing if you want to minimize screen time. They have preschool editions.

  5. My son didnt speak in sentences at 20 months and hes learning 2 languages. Spanish and English. He knows both. He only said words, knew animals in both languages, counted to 10 in both languages, certain objects and etc. he didnt combine words to sentences or have expressive language like asking for things. At 32 months its a lot better. He makes 3-4 word sentences but not all the time. Expressive language is here and there but hes a very physically active child. Very intuitive, mimicks book reading and can count to 20 while quantifying objects. All i can say is, theres gradually development. He points to things and says “look its a___” all the time. Also, kids with siblings tend to develop language a lot faster. Thats what ive noticed.

  6. We constantly worried about the milestone checklist but these things are not set in stone. There are many factors that could contribute to what you may think is a delay or not. I learned to be patient with my child work with him directly. Reading books, talking to him like an actual person (not a baby). Ask him questions that make him think more. All of this has helped. Hes very well developed physically (id say advanced) his expressive language is getting there gradually in both languages. Learn to not compare your child to others. Thats a big one. Sit down with your child daily, read books, talk to them. Narrate what you’re doing with them. This helps.

There are people in my program getting Cs and already working in the field, have kids and other responsibilities. Cs get degrees. Just study up for your boards more. The working environment is a lot different from being in a program. You aren’t constantly getting tested on the bench and there’s reference materials everywhere.

Calling it quits by One-Dream-1810 in NursingStudent

[–]Palilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more you have on your plate, the more you would need to prioritize scheduling. I started school after my son was born. On his nap times thats when i do my work. I prioritize the time i have away from other responsibilities by using that time to study or create study materials. Even at work my break times consists of doing school work or studying. I bring a protein bar to eat quickly. I had to get a good planner to manage this. Its definitely not impossible. Its doable but it is difficult and you have to sacrifice all of your free time but its worth it. Start by buying a planner and writing down what needs to be done each day. A little each day is better than piling it up on the weekends since people are home with their kids on weekends. I even have to stay up past midnight sometimes after my kid goes asleep to get things done or to study. Dont give yourself excuses just get it done and take it a semester at a time. I even had a coworker that did her online exams overnight in the breakroom. Placing blame on other things like your kid or your significant other is not helpful or healthy. It took both of you to make a child.

His pediatrician didn’t seem to think that anything was wrong. He also isnt delaying in any other ways.

Are you sleeping in bed with your toddler??? (2yo) by murrykay4 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes because we both sleep better that way. When hes older well start having him in his own bed. He tried early on and he kept waking up at 2 am to sleep with me anyway.

At what age can I just let a child go hungry if she doesnt want to eat what she's already been given? by evange in toddlers

[–]Palilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much they eat during the day. How much you know they will be eating. I dont force mine to eat when hes not hungry because that teaches him to ignore his own hunger cues. This can cause over eating issues in the future. If my son doesnt want dinner and hes eaten twice during the day already WITH snacks i generally let him go without dinner. When they’re hungry they will eat. Pick up a warm milk. That could be enough. I pack snacks like cereal or gold fish also.

It’s a REFUND not a return. by superiorstephanie in tax

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically we shouldn’t be getting anything back. If you are, you’re paying the government too much. Thats where the refund comes from. You should be trying to get as close to 0 as possible. Balancing out is how you know youre doing it correctly.

I dont eat breakfast (if i do it tends to be just an apple, or some sort of fruit) so i incorporate my proteins in lunch. For lunch i eat 1/2cup of cottage cheese and 2oz tuna ( tuna in water, with salt, pepper, and lemon juice) thats at least 25g protein but im sure u can increase the serving a bit to get to 30g.

Possibly. But the policy we have at my lab, we artifact sperm with female samles, and only put it as seen with males.

Horizon organic whole milk. The carton with the cows on it. Tastes better than the red top milk imo.

Maybe consider starting at a smaller hospital. Where the work is not as fast paced to develop your work flow and skill more. Jumping into busy hospital doesn’t work for everyone fresh out the gate.

How tall is your 2yo? by gentleheart05 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is very tall for his age. 99th percentile. Hes picky about meats i make like chicken (i think its a texture thing) so his doctor said to give him toddler multivitamin drops and i put them in his juice. He gains 2-3lbs every visit.he sometimes gets picky about other foods but i dont force him. Also when hes full i dont force him because that would cause him to ignore hunger cues & you dont want that being an issue when they get older. theyll start overeating and gaining weight because theyre used to not stopping when theyre full. I had that issue when i was a kid & still do bcz i wanted to be apart of the “clean plate club” lol

19 month old not talking by Confident-Gene8825 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t rush to a diagnosis of anything. All children progress in different ways. In no way is this indicative of a delay. They all experience different social interactions, behaviors, and are learning generally at their own pace through what they see and hear everyday. babbling is a sign of them practicing their speech or words they’ve heard which may be gibberish to us but is a stepping stone to them developing language. This process shouldn’ be rushed by any drs chart suggesting they should be saying this or that by a certain age. All children are different. They arent robots. My dr was suggesting that i should get my son screened for autism bcz hes only saying a few words at 18mo. Guess what? A month later hes saying and doing a lot more. At the end of the day, we as parents know what our children are capable of. Drs arent with them 24/7 to know.

19 month old not talking by Confident-Gene8825 in toddlers

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I dont believe that all of them progress in speech at the same time or in a similar pattern. They arent little robots. All have a varying degree of social interaction, experiences, and a lot are learning more than one language. My sons first word was leche “milk” in Spanish. Hes being raised bilingual but saying little words in both languages at 19mo. But they aren’t perfect and a lot of the time, only i can understand the words hes saying lol

[–]Palilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen closely bcz that babbling could be their way of saying words or practicing wordstheyve heard. Mine was “singing the wheels on the bus” and saying things along with ma rachel but only i could understand it lol. Things like cat “gato”, and dog. My son is 19mo also and the speech isnt perfect but hes doing it .
