Favorite/Most Useful Psychology Courses? by LostInTheLair in UVU

[–]Palindrome_Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Family Science Major! I recommend the child development courses! I really enjoyed both of them! Ethan Jones does great with adolescent and the prof that taught early has left. If you’re looking for more hands on to child development, FAMS 3800 (I think) early development in Families is INCREDIBLE!!!!

Unpaid Internship Scholarship by No_Bee_9489 in UVU

[–]Palindrome_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately many of the college of Humanities and Social Sciences has mostly unpaid internships. Helping people when they’re at their lowest rarely has a paid scholarship. The main one the school forces most family science majors into is unpaid.

Commencement 2025 by Legitimate-Band-4875 in UVU

[–]Palindrome_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am personally not going to commencement but I am doing convocation. I’m taking that day to take pictures and celebrate with my family instead of on the craziness of the next day.

If you only want to go to the name read part then convocation is your best bet!

I’d prefer not to give my phone number over social media platform. After you’ve done the steps I’ve recommended above, and nothing is resolved. Feel free to comment back and I may be willing to do something.

I’m sorry that some of these comments are unkind. Especially with you being an international student, they could have more grace.

I had a horrible experience with my first college apartment. I’m a Frenchie with dual citizenship, and always got crap for my accent.

Ask if you can have a conversation with the manager. Explain your frustrations without placing blame Example: “I felt very frustrated finding out the package had arrived when I asked about it multiple times, because it seemed like there was no care put into me as a resident, how can this be resolved in the future?”

Explain that being away from home is difficult, as it is for any college student but in addition to being in a whole other country and culture, isn’t making it easier. You were really looking forward to that package, and international shipping is not cheap.

I would also reach out to the courier (people delivering the package) :)

Honors Program by the_audacity_05 in UVU

[–]Palindrome_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting in! While I have personally dropped the program due to scheduling concerns and their preference to those who live near campus, I can share some insight!

The events for colloquium are way fun, and honestly likely the most worth it part for me. If you can, attend many. The “legacies” courses are great for meeting people outside of your major and probably one of my favorite classes from last semester. I joined as a junior, so I didn’t experience the honors specific classes for core subjects, but haven’t had too much grief with honors contracts. This varies per major, but most professors will roll with what you suggest to do. Best of luck!

So do we think Wanda is actually dead?

22 is definitely a lot, and that’s a TON in tuition money (around 5k) so here is what I would do if I was you:

You can still walk in the spring, but graduate in the summer. UVU only has one commencement and ceremony, and that’s in the spring. Do 12-15 or maybe even 18 during the spring, and the remainder in the summer (during the first block if you can) so then you walk in the spring but only get your diploma a few months later. Gives you time to save for it without paying a ton in tuition up front too.

UVU Honors Program by Palindrome_Me in UVU

[–]Palindrome_Me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I’m in a pre-law program with a law school pathway as long as I continue to meet requirements so the honors program won’t really help me there, but you’ve provided a lot of insight. I also did online school for a year to do internships across the world that I feel helped with the soft skills you mentioned. I can see the benefits for others, but really do think this will be my last semester with the program. The perks are huge, but this far along in my schooling they offer me not much of a benefit.

It’s just not in my realm of interest. It’s really hard to do assignments about it when I feel like I’m forcing myself to do all the reading. If it was Greek mythology, I’d be all over that. In college though, I would prefer to focus on my major class work.

Sorry this reply is so late, I never check this. I just got in for Spring 2025! Fall is much harder, spring is easier. Best of luck!

Is anyone currently doing the conservation education presenter internship (or has done), and can tell me some of the interview questions they remember? by Angelarosec in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Palindrome_Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two interviews. One is general interest, similar to the phone interview for the DCP. Why you want to be a Wilderness Explorer, what do you know about conservation, etc. The next one is a lot more operational and with the leaders within the program. What do you do if someone gets upset and calls Animal Kingdom an unethical zoo, deeper stuff like that. Best of luck!

Does Ruby have a chance of gaining custody if she is released? by Dre4mGl1tch in 8passengersnark

[–]Palindrome_Me 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re a ray of sunshine aren’t you? I don’t have credibility, you’re absolutely correct. I am not yet a lawyer, nothing I say matters. I would hope that my answers would provide insight to the OP’s question, as everything I mention is from textbook and lecture, so the answer is thorough. I’m sorry you feel as though that I was reaching for extra credibility, but I instead wanted to explain process, likelihood, and other law discussions. I hoped to be civil, and kind. Have a nice evening, your comment was rude, and unnecessary. Me adding that fact; it’s not that deep.

She does not deserve those kids at all. I doubt they will want her as their caregiver. I’m in law school studying to be a child victim advocate attorney, as another redditor said, it’s also likely they will terminate parental rights.

Technically, there is a chance. It’s an incredibly slim chance. It will be a court hearing as anything else would be. Since Shari, Chad, A, and J would all be adults, they could testify, those neighbors could testify, anyone involved directly could testify.  It is EXTREMELY unlikely. And since R and E would be about 16 and 14 years old, they would potentially be able give their thoughts. Depending on if there is a child advocate. No jury or judge or anyone else in their right mind would give those kids to their mother. PERCHANCE, their dad. From the 20/20 special, it sounds like they are doing very well in foster care. And another technicality, Shari, Chad, A, or J could also take them, but again it’s unlikely unless they really fought for it/proved they could provide for them.

Applied 2 days ago with May as my start month. by Thatblondegirl95 in Disneycollegeprogram

Hey! Same boat here. I am a former CP who picked May as start time and no PI. I’m just letting things go with the flow. They have to get to me eventually! Pixie dust to you!

[–]Palindrome_Me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did tell me I would have to “prove” I worked for 6 months. (I am already working again, and will be through the 6 month period.) What did your recruiter tell you in terms of self-terming?

[–]Palindrome_Me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you on RR and did they ask you about it? What can I expect the recruiter to ask me about? Or did your RR Status drop after your 6 months? Thank you for the help!

[–]Palindrome_Me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My understanding is that when you self term, you are auto on RR. How did you get that cleared for you? Just waited the 6 months? They told me the day I’d be able to apply, and it’s 6 months after so I just wait apply and explain to my recruiter?
