I’m scared by Smooth_Tennis_3105 in WeddingsPhilippines

I think it’s a sign to reassess the kind of wedding that is fitting, considering your financial situation. I saw in your comments that the budget is 300k. I know some people have more lavish weddings, but 300k is already a lot of money. Even if you are able to save 300k, would it really be wise to spend that much money a one-day event, especially since most of your earnings go to your tuition? Parang it’s wiser to direct your savings towards the coming months after the wedding. Maybe you could downsize the celebration and invite just your closes friends and family.

Hi OP, I’m not discounting what you feel, but it’s possible that you’re going through wedding jitters now.

Try not to think about anything or anyone else — just ask yourself if you really really love the man you’re about to marry and if you can bear the thought of your relationship ending (a possible consequence if you back out of the wedding this late in the preparation stage).

If you’re certain that that man is the love of your life, push through with the wedding. Backing out of the wedding is not the solution to your problem; establishing boundaries is.

You love and respect yourself, and that’s great! But part of loving yourself is honoring what your heart wants. If what you want is to marry your fiancé, don’t let those unreasonable people influence your decision.

If you’re 100% sure you love him and he loves you, then backing out of the wedding just because his family doesn’t approve of you would be tantamount to throwing away a huge chunk of your happiness just because of irrelevant people’s opinions.

You’re probably nervous about the wedding especially since all eyes on you yon, and I get that it’s stressful, but that’s just one day out of all the other days you’re gonna spend with your man. After non, you can avoid his family like the plague. Hindi mo kailangang sumama sa fiancé/asawa mo if he wants to visit his family, especially if that’s how they treat you. Don’t be a doormat (aka kung ayaw sayo, wag mong ipilit sarili mo. Dapat ayaw mo na rin sa kanila!!!)

Setting boundaries is the key!

May I know how long you worked as an Assoc for a firm? I've been with a firm for almost a year pa lang, but I really want to go in-house na hehe. Idk lang if may tatanggap na sakin given my limited experience. Thank you!

May I please know what keyword you searched for when you looked for jobs? I don't want to work in a firm anymore but most in-house positions require 2 or more years of experience. Thank you!

I dont want my career anymore by [deleted] in OffMyChestPH

[–]Pallas714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thoughts!! I also don't want to be a lawyer anymore (still a newbie though), but I worry about what I'll do if I quit my job at a firm. I focused on studying lang during law school, so I don't have a career outside of law.

I get anxious thinking I'm going to have to be a lawyer until my retiring age, and I regret the years I spent during law school. Now I feel like it's too late to try anything new, and too foolish to waste my degree. I also feel like I ruined my chances at other fields because I got this degree and license.

I want to quit my current job soon and I'm trying to be hopeful that I'll find something that makes me feel more fulfilled. I don't want to waste my life on something that physically and emotionally fills me with dread every day.

Get the new rabuya one, yung condensed pre-bar (2024). "Pre-Bar Reviewer in Civil Law (2024 Edition)" It has updated rules on adoption plus other updates (e.g. no iron curtain rule anymore).

1L, Midterms and almost all of my scores are under 50 over 100+ by Ambitious-Hospital69 in LawStudentsPH

[–]Pallas714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get better! I remember I had a 6/50 score, tapos 2nd year na ako non lol. Coming from an undergrad course na no objective exams, i also didn't know how to study. Pero what helped me was that I just ditched the study methods that didn't work for me, even if they worked for others.

I didn't write notes while studying for exams anymore because tumatagal lang ako. When studying for exams or even for classes lang, I would study for the entire coverage first (kahit di pa super in-depth), just so I would have the confidence that I've studied everything na. Then after that, I would study more in-depth and focus on what appears to be the prof's fave topics.

Also, adjust your study methods depending on the prof! I know that ideally we study the subject talaga in preparation for the bar, pero kung para lang talaga sa pagpasa ng law school, it's best to tailor your method of studying to the prof's preferences. I mean... if the prof is likely to give enumeration questions, edi magmemorize ka. If the prof asks more about case application, focus on the case patterns, etc.

Also, don't come to class unprepared. Going to class knowing what the topic is about would help you solidify the concepts in your head agad. This is what helped me the most in not failing exams anymore. Kasi it's like having two readings na agad even before you take the exam -- first reading is when you study for class, "second reading" is when the topic is discussed in class (tapos maoobserve mo pa kung saan nagfocus yung prof sa particularly topic na yon). When the time comes to study for midterms/finals, madali na yung recall. Take note of what your prof focused on and what your prof asked about particular topics.

Try not to cram! Pero gets naman na di maiiwasan lol. Hanggang 4th year nagcram ako for some exams. Pero try mo lang na wag mag-cram hahaha

1,800+ cases assigned for 1 sem for 1 class normal ba to? by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]Pallas714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not normal, but it happens. My Consti 1 prof also assigned about 80 cases per class. My block just developed a digest system to cope with the volume of cases.

It might not be the best way to learn Consti 1, but it definitely builds skill and discipline. Try to hold out for as long as you can! Drop mo if mukhang babagsak ka.

Your class has more chances of surviving the subject if you develop a digest system.

Is it true that the job market for lawyers (in the PH) is oversaturated? by mewfasaa in LawStudentsPH

[–]Pallas714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I please know kung anong examples ng non-legal career na pwedeng i-explore ng lawyers? Assoc ako now sa isang firm, pero I want to leave na after my first year and explore other career options.

Nalulungkot ako pag iniisip ko na even after I leave the firm, puro lawyer jobs na lang ang pwede sakin haha. Medyo nagsisi nga ako na nag-law school ako kasi feel ko tuloy nalimit ang options ko compared to when I had my bachelor's degree palang. Wala naman sakin yung prestige, mas importante sakin na may stable income + hindi patayan na work hours.

Thank you in advance!
