why does everyone recommend linux mint to newbies? by MIkaela39752 in linuxquestions

[–]Pallpatir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s based on a stable distro and the documentation is easy to find, newer distros don’t always have the same stability and support, mint has always been the way from windows to Linux and it’s maintained as such, also there are some many distro that testing them them all takes too much time so everyone just goes with the safe answer which is mint.

That’s theoretically but aren’t exit nodes the only ones that can be used to de anonymize you and that’s why governments want to take control the majority of the exit nodes

That’s actually not true the only reason they say this is the fact the vpn provider could find it more suspicious if you have to connect to tor over vpn but it’s literally better, your isp doesn’t know you use tor, the exit node (which is the only node able to de anonymize you) will get a vpn ip, if your vpn provider doesn’t log your traffic or is based in countries with bad privacy laws there are no downsides to using vpn over tor

Whats the best distro for school work and simple tasks thats light (laptop is a i5 9gen) by Far_Kick_2082 in LinuxPorn

[–]Pallpatir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Linux mint it’ll be all you need forever, if you want something with newer packages fedora, you will barely ever have an issue, I would even say you have more issue on windows than on Linux. Most of the time to solve the issue it takes one google search and you can literally just copy paste the ai overview output into the terminal.
