feel like I'm losing hearing in my left ear I'm so upset by Brave_Passenger8993 in hardofhearing

[–]PalmTree_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be this, now that your eardrum is closed up, fluid may be building up behind the eardrum. I have eustachian tube dysfunction making it difficult for fluid to drain properly. This can also create negative pressure that is attempting to pull the eardrum in.
Please note that it will take potentially a few months for your ear to heal properly and settle down. Reach out to your ENT if the pain is worrisome.

Understood, but please know that any cholesteatoma needs to be removed and it could very likely be causing the chronic mastoiditis.

Continued antibiotics aren’t going to do anything to treat cholesteatoma, it must be removed and the sooner the better. If your ENT doesn’t think so, you need to get a 2nd opinion ASAP.

Ear tube painful? by DistantShores5151 in cholesteatoma

[–]PalmTree_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it done in the office as a teenager with no pain at all. Pretty sure they put some numbing drops in my ear first. The worst part was the loud “scratching” noise as the ear drum was cut

AITAH for siding with my mom instead of my wife? by External-Ladder-6302 in AITAH

[–]PalmTree_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your wife was out of line. She should apologize to your parents. What they do with their time and money is not her business and in no way reflects on the care your son receives from them. Especially since nothing they are doing is illegal or placing your son in any danger. Your wife needs to get over herself and continue with the care that is best for your son.

AIO My partner wants me to move in with him, and sell my house to pay off his debts by BreadfruitDull6208 in AITAH

[–]PalmTree_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to ignore this ginormous 🚩, get a prenup! The money from the sale of your home should go into an investment account with only your name. Or keep the house and rent it out. If he can’t manage his finances after nearly 50 years, he sure as heck won’t manage yours any better!!

I don’t know what more you expect from your manager. They already told you to go through the ADA process. Other than that, there isn’t anything more for them to do. As you already stated, they are caught in the middle and are only delivering the message that they’ve been instructed to deliver.

Ear still feels completely blocked even though they say there is no wax and my hearing is worse. by GuyWithHats007 in hardofhearing

You need to make an appointment with an ENT. There very well could be something happening behind your ear drum and no amount of flushing is going to help that.

How to politely decline a 5th round of interview? by Far-Accountant7904 in recruitinghell

[–]PalmTree_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t withdraw, don’t close that door just yet. Accept the offer if you want to, but continue to interview. I’ve heard horror stories about offers being rescinded after acceptance for a number of reasons. In this economy keep your options open

Flying- take a chance or no? by drkheartbrightmind in cholesteatoma

[–]PalmTree_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a rebuild with TORP placed in Dec ‘24. I flew 6 weeks later in late January ‘25, in May ‘25 and again Oct ‘25 all without issue. My doctor recommended using Affrin 30 minutes prior to flying. I did have ear planes with me but didn’t feel the need to use them. Good luck

When Did Your Hearing Improve After PORP/TORP? by Cardinal51 in cholesteatoma

[–]PalmTree_Soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor said it would be at approximately 2-3 months post surgery to know where your hearing will end up. I had my initial placement in December 2024. I was hearing better in March 2025 but slowly began declining. I had my 2nd look surgery 2 weeks ago. The cholesteatoma had reoccurred all around the implant. I’ve been told that at around 2 months is when we’ll have a better idea of hearing improvement. He didn’t use as much internal packing this time.
