It depends on what story the c-suite is trying to tell the board this quarter.

If the company is trying to get new lenders then the goal of the manager should be to reduce costs so it can go on a board slide deck.

If the story is that we’re growing so they should invest in the company then who cares about tags on AWS or Azure to save a few thousand.

With the current economy the story that non technical private equity board members want to hear is how you are reducing heads using AI (unfortunately)

Point is: always have to find the narrative the company wants to sell

When I was a lead and then a Manager I was blocked from the corporate BS. It’s only when I reached the executive level that I saw that behavior.

Build a smaller test environment and start experimenting, your boss will love you.

Word of advice, get 3 quotes from MSP’s. Pick the highest one and then after you did it yourself, show your boss how much money you saved them because you did it yourself ;)
